Yeah...my TR smokes at times when I shut if off for short periods. It seems to not be a problem when it's shut off for long periods. The worst thing is it's not very predictable for my car. There are many times when there's not smoke at all. Then an occasional puff...usually around big crowds of people....just when you want it! I've heard many reasons for this event. From my experience, it seems to happen most when the car is parked on an incline. If level it is rare to see any smoke. Either way, though no harm is done, it does NOT look very cool when you start up your exotic "big money" car and there's smoke. |

It's been covered many times before. From this thread.
quote:TRs have a tendency to smoke....it likely stems from the horizontal design. While resting, oil may tend to seep from the head into the cylinder and stay there (unlike a relatively vertical cylinder of a V design). When starting, this oil will create smoke for a few moments. This was a notorious problem with my old 356 Porsche.

A little question for f-car owners..When I start my TR up, sometimes I will get blue smoke, than it is fine!! Within 30 second's or less! I know when I am on the freeway and get on it, no smoke at all, per friend's that are following me!! Am I just paranoid, or should I be concerned?? My 911 did that also, and it was okay..Thank's for any info..Robert |
