Go to the "member list" and email him directly. If he doesn't have them, he can certainly make them if he isn't too busy... |

Too big for in the passenger compartment, but cheap way to go, is to get the large 3A-40BC dry chem units they sell at Costco. $20 each! I have two in my Bimmer trunk (may be good samaritan and put out some VW bus on fire someday...), a couple in my garage, and one in the kitchen too. Cheap insurance if you ask me... |

Here's the deal: http://www.westernfireandsafety.com/ These guys are 10 minutes from my house. The unit pictured is the 5 lb one. The 2.5 lb unit is narrower, and with the 20% internet deal, is only $96 plus shipping and haz mat fees. I have the 2.5 lb unit inside my car (using a bracket in front of the passenger seat) and the 5 lb unit in the trunk. I got the 5 lb unit a couple years ago for $89 during a "in store special"....they always have deals going on there. |

Take it from experience, do not use dry chem. I have and its a big mess, not to mention I hear its corrosive to electrical components. I never go out without my halon. Think of the alternative, if you need it and don't have it the best you will be able to do is step back and cry as your pride and joy burns to the ground. |

Actually, I don't really know. I don't have the box anymore. I't a Kiddie ABC extinguisher with the optional metal bracket, and the bottle says gross "3.0 pounds min, 3.5 pounds max" During the TWS trip Jayson kept snagging the lever and unlocking the extinguisher, so I reversed the metal bracket after these pics so that the gauge is on the outward side. |

see http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/6532/276396.html for pics of my car with the famous Charness Harness by Peter. I'm currently using a Home-Depot special extinguisher until I decide what kind of no/low-residue extinguisher I really want. I figured that carrying an effective (if messy) extinguisher immediately made more sense than having a bracket in the garage.

Use AFFF foam not halon. Also it is easy to plumb in a dedicated system for the engine bay but it is really easy to do the portable since F cars have great electrical systems and they can burn anywhere. |

http://www.ferrariclub.com/faq/extinguisher.html Get a 2.5 lb Halon unit, make the mount shown in the link, and you are set. Anything else is overkill. 328's are not exploding all over the place... :-) I have another, larger unit in my trunk (use the small one to fight your way to the larger one), but I have fire extinguishers in ALL my cars, garage, house... |

Who knows about the built in fire protection systems in older Ferraris? Who does it and how much. Is it a good idea or are 328 engine fires rare. Also where do you guys place the hand held fire protection units? How large do you go? Thanks |
