Hi Dom,

that's really weird as I do get requests from others.

Email is simple, just add "sales@" to the website name.

Best,

Oh boy...

I guess that means more scanning and delving through the archive huh? ;-)

Do you happen to know the lowest S/N of the 308 GT/4?

I quickly went through the archive and found S/N 8662 which had been advertised as a "1974 European, race ready" car in FML 6/12.

Any S/N's lower than that?

Jack, its been discussed here before and a few have gone and built model-specific registers (myself included, although nothing's up yet - still on paper http://www.dino-gt4-registry.com).

And I just checked out your Zagato site - neat stuff. I noticed one of the 1300 Junior Z's is a local car and I noticed a local 2600Z is missing (I'll have to put you in touch with the owner...).

Talking about 330 Americas and 330 GT 2+2 prototypes...

Going through the file, I found that the engine of 5125GT, last of the 330 Americas, was transplanted into 4085GT, the third 330 GT 2+2 prototype.

barchetta.cc simply mentions that 5125GT has been parted out and that the engine is in a 330 GT 2+2.

They list no info in 4085GT other than it being a prototype.

Assuming that 4085GT was a protype that was built under factory command, one COULD assume that they (the factory) also ordered the "butchering" of 5125GT...

Is that assumption correct?

Wayne, I got to see and get a ride in 330 2+2 5411. Evidently it has had an America badge on it since it left the scuderia. Explanation I heard was that the first few cars of a new model would sometimes use the left over parts from the previous model. A 4 headlight 330 2+2 is pretty obviously not an America.

Hi Peter & Jeff,

www.zagato-cars.com will up and running again within a couple of days.

Although that originally started out as a site for the Alfa Romeo Junior Zagato, I have already added a register for the AR 2600 SZ and see no reason why the Appia's wouldn't also fit in there provided I have a decent basis to start from.

So Jeff, should the US Appia Z register all of a sudden "fall from the sky into my lap", I'll gladly add it.

BTW Peter, you've got mail.

Best regards,
Jack

Hehehehe....
Keep guessing Wayne...

I am almost certain that it is "simply" a 250 GT/L and that the other ones were typos in the ads or misread by the one that compiled the register.

Please do. Let me take one more guess first, though. This one's a stretch...

6413 GT is a 330 GT 2+2 that is badged as a "330 America." Thinking this could've caused some confusion, maybe? Then again, that wouldn't account for the "250 GT/L" thing, would it? Oh well, please include it!

Chassis number "4997 GT" should belong to a 330 America, but it doesn't. The car is actually a prototype 330 GT 2+2. There has been some confusion as a result.

Jack, there's nothing fishy about that at all. One third of the frame went under one car, one third under another car, and so on. But with all the rust and accumulated dirt, I bet some of those VIN tags fell right off. What a shame!

Just found the first "cherry"....

A S/N (nope, not telling WHICH one...) that has been advertised over the years for:

1) a 330 GT 2+2
2) a 250 GT/L
3) a 330 GT America

Oooops....

Arlie,

I believe that "destroyed" cars are equally important to a register as concours cars.

It is always good to know what has happened to a car , especially when all of a sudden that model is "back from the ashes by popular demand".

Jack, my car was probably just one that "once was" and added to somebody's register. I'm sure there are more "matching numbers" cars in existance than the factories ever produced!!!

>>>But my car had been totaled out in 1967 here in Arkansas. So don't know how my car's serial number ended up on his list. Typo error maybe?

Was it a 1957 Corvette "Phoenix" that was resurrected from the ashes?

Maybe it was just added to the register as a "once was a 57 Corvette but has been totalled" to keep the list complete?

Maybe somebody just swapped the S/N with the one on the 57 he had just stolen? Oooops...

I also run the register on Alfa Romeo's with Zagato bodies and the number of previously unaccounted for TZ's is growing by the day...

Not bad for a car of which only little over 100 pcs were ever built.

I guess we all know what that means in Ferrari land...

>>>Wonder how many of those Ferraris are still around?

Good question. My best guess: No idea...

And they beheld the knowledge of the ancients, and their eyes were filled with awe and wonderment!

Just take everything with a grain of salt. I was researching the history of my 1957 Corvette, and my car's serial number appeared on a register that a guy was compiling in New York back in 1974. But my car had been totaled out in 1967 here in Arkansas. So don't know how my car's serial number ended up on his list. Typo error maybe?

Nope, it is NOT the red register compiled by Robert marvin.

This is a handwritten register on index cards and was compiled during a ca. 30 year period.

There is also more info on the lower S/N's than the higher ones.

The stack of paper on S/N 001 - 1499 is about 50% higher than that on 20000 - 40000....

OK, some more info:

It was compiled in the USA so some (or a lot?) of European cars might not be accounted for.

The highest S/N I can find is 40965 (a 308 GTSi).

No info on any S/N's higher than that.

Hi All,

just wanted to let you know that we have unearthed an important Ferrari data archive / register which was maintained from the 1950's to the mid-1980's.

I have no view yet on how complete it is but it is a LOT of paperwork with apparently most S/N's accounted for (will have to take exact inventory to find out how complete it really is).

The data includes mostly serial numbers, colors, sometimes additional info like "last one imported" etc and some ownership details, advertised prices and literature references.

I have done some random checks with the register on Barchetta.cc and there are interesting differences / additions...

I'll try to add all the information to our website as soon as time permits but this could be a couple of years work depending on how busy you guys keep us...

For the time being, I would be more than happy to share the information with current owners on a request basis.

I have added a "Ferrari Register Page" to our website where you will find a form that you can submit online and I'll dig through the register and see what I can come up with.

Hope that you guys (and girls !) appreciate this.

Best regards,
Jack Habits
