The buyers of the Gallardo will simply want one thing, the best sportcar for 160,000, and that is what they will get.

If you would like to see a video of the car, goto www.racingflix.com an log in, they have a great video of the 360 killer on track and off.

Don,
I am citing with Allan on the issue that the new Baby Lambo will be a great competition to the 360 and its replacement. Yes, we are on the same subject here.

I just don't think they are comparable.

Those buyers that buy the baby Lambo over a Ferrari are buyers that would also buy a Cadillac Sports Car with 600HP just because it can smoke a Ferrari on the 1/4 Mile.

(to be politically correct here, that is not directed at the Lambo but at those buyers that look for only R&T stats for decisions on thier next toy)

Allan,
they are not morons. They have a different opinion than you.

You have to admit that it feels lousy to have someone trash your Lambo with remarks like: its a pimp car, its for gold chain guys etc. When you come and post something that offends Ferrari lovers you get these reactions.

Now that said I think your intention was right and your point is well taken. The core of it, the way it comes over is offensive though.

You are alright in my book as well. You have to see there are different cars for different people.

I personally love the Diablo. The design speaks volumes. You look at that car and you see that this bull not just kills the matador (sp) but rips him into bite-size pieces.
Still today those cars are NOT competition, so comparing the two is just plain wrong.
I hope though that this will change in the near future and am hopefull that Audi will do what I would. Get Lambo ready for competion racing. Austin Martin is coming to the Le Mans Series. I am sure Lamborghini is going to follow in 2004 or 2005.
And as others said, I am looking forward to that. It will give us all better cars if they have to compete.

Hope you get my point.

I do get lots of guys at gas stations who come up to me and express interest in the car. So, if I were gay, the GT4 would be an excellent pick-up magnet.

Until today that has never happened to me! I mean I am driving my cars since years as daily drivers clocking thousands of Miles within the City and not once have I seen and Boobs being flashed.

What the f*ck is wrong with me? Do I really need plastic surgery just to be elegible to see some hooters? Are the Miami chicks not as friendly as those in AZ or all the other places people say they have been flashed?

Rick, I wouldn't accept the position of FNA president if offered either. And, don't be so quick to poke fun at the Lambo as the car of the gold chain crowd. It was the TR that was first identified with the gold chain crowd in the mid-80s.

"So what you guys are really saying is that the Lambo is really way to fast to be driven on a track, while since the Ferrari is slow, it is far more suited to the track! I can live with that."

without trying to prolong this rediculous post any more:

No, Allan, this is not what that means! What that means is that Ferrari builts is chassis for race course use. Special consideration and engineering goes into those areas whereas Lamborghini in the past (and I am sure that will change with Audi) has put emphesis on the engine, power and looks, not much on handling.

The 360 Chassis was built to be a base for the GT series and Challenge Series, although I am not a particular fan in citing same race series as reference since they don't give you much of that. Lambo has no racing program and no racing interest (yet) so that is not a main concern.

Allan,
I will gladly jump in your wifes 355 Spider and you in your Diablo and we can do some hot laps. My experience is very limited as well so we should be equal on exp. level. You will see that you will outrun me on any straight but in the corners I will be right behind you again.

There is no right or wrong here. They are two different cars. Made for two different purposes.

1/4 mile is such a dumb variable. You can strap a F16 turbine on the back of a Pinto and blow any car into bits and pieces. What the f*ck is that saying about any car?

Rick,

Go back and read my posts and read Allan's posts.

You're going to find a substantial difference. I am a Lamborghini fan, Porsche fan, and a Ferrari fan. I believe that competition breeds success and I believe that 10 exotics running neck and neck is better that one.

Even if you had the power to nominate me within the Ferrari organization, which you don't, I would decline. Unless I'd like to see a manufacture I like run to the ground.

In short. Check out my last two posts. Relevant to the subject matter and trying to get a decent discussion up. You, on the other hand are taunting. I nominate you official Ferrarichat Assclown of the month (in memory of Dave, who unfortunately has been MIA on the boards).

Cheers

JRV, I am sorry to tell you that your friend is crazy for not taking the $25K for his spot. why don't you look up on ebay and see what it the premium on the Gallardo these days, say $5k-$6K.

I don't want to mention names but someone on the chat line just ordered his Gallardo few weeks ago from a prominent dealer to be delivered before the end of the year. so i honestly don't know why you guys are hyping the Gallardo so much. it is only a car.

What's the name of the VW/audi version of the gallardo that's also coming soon?
Will the drivetrain fit into a new beetle? You might have to gimble mount the bud vase to keep the fake flower from falling out.
My guess is the 360 replacement will be lighter and more powerful than the current car.
Horsepower by itself is meaningless-the big MB with the turbo 12 makes tons but its not a sportscar

The Murci is nice but overweight-even considering the auto-weight-loss design features (sheds gearshift etc. as per recent tests to lose a few pounds).
If the 360 replacement comes out with 460 bhp it will eat a lard-ass audi-based gallardo.

Rob,

I see what you are sayin about the 348/355. I agree.

Is the 420 going to be similar enough to the 360 that the drop top version will be available at the same time or are we going to see a couple of years of production before the drop top comes? Also, what about the 420 Challenge cars or Stradale cars?

It looks like even with an accelerated time frame, be it from impending competition or technological advancements, a brand spanking new model won't be in the horizon for a while.

Rob made a good point about horsepower somewhere on this thread a while ago.

When do you guys think the hp wars are going to get ridiculous enough that it'll force manufactures to drop WEIGHT?

Cheers

Moving on, I don't see the 360 replacement coming before Jan 2005 as the Stradale production will supplement this and next year's 360 production. Shelton is getting 3 this year and 9 next year.

Taek-Ho, I don't think the 360 will get made into a 3rd Gen as part of a plan. I think it may happen as an act of (uh hum) desperation. They could get caught between design/development cycles and need to 'squeeze one out' as we are seeing Porsche do at the moment with the whole TT-Cab, GT3-RS business.

Taek, I wouldn't say the 348 is the third iteration of the 308/328. I don't think anyone would say that. All 8's starting with the 308 are linked, but I would put the 348/355 in another generation than the 308/328. I would also put the 360 in another generation as the 348/355. Who knows if the 420 will be an evolution or revolution. The 360 is a great car, so I'm not sure a revolution is the best at this time.

I think everyone can agree that the 360 was the closest Ferrari has come so far to copying the Toyota Supra Look. Now if they can get Toyota power (and a tranny that shifts right) they'll be rockin.

Can't you find something to chrome on your car and leave?

David,

That "ignore member" setting can't come soon enough.

Matt,

"Boobman"!!! That's the best laugh I've had in a while. I can't believe somebody that drives any car, let alone a Lambo, would brag about getting booby flashed. Too funny. This guy needs help.

David,

Back to the subject! Finally! :-)

How many iterations of the 360 do you guys foresee? Do you think that the 360 will be redesigned after the 460hp iteration? Or are we going to see a third iteration as well like the 308/328/348, TR/512TR/512M? Anyone have insight into this?

I'm guessing that if the 360s are successfully campaigned in races we might see yet a third iteration of the car. Then again, with the impending competition in the horizon from all sorts of makers, not just Lamborghini, maybe they'll come up with something that blows everything out of the water until the cycle starts again...

Cheers

Alan- Most here are secure with our personal self-esteem and simply state that the Ferrari draws attention for the oposite sex. You degraded that situation with what is shown to you.(Maybe in your dreams) Lambo.chat needs your prompt attention.

Allan,

I've already seen a picture of you, and your wife. That's what I based my last comment upon. And no, I won't post a picture of myself, or my girlfriend. My personal identity is not going to be splashed across any page on the net. Thanks for the offer, however! If you didn't have your picture on the net, then you wouldn't be called "average (at best)". You could then shovel more BS and tell us how your chiseled appearance is the envy of all females across the globe. But now that we know what you really look like, you can't use that angle. See Allan, you make it too easy when you act like a child. This is fun. Shall we continue?

Oh that's original.

Did you hurt your head?

Stop shoveling the BS "boobman"
