The picture I posted here from my shields if not very good, overexposed, the yellow looks bleached. In reality the shields look very good, the yellow and overal quality matches the look of the nose badge wich is original. I can take a picture of them side by side. The lines in the horse are wrong but that is only noticed when you can compare.
I bought the resin stickers before I got the glass badges and I thought they looked good, except the green in the flag is to bright. But I plan to recess my shields and a recessed resin shield would look very stupid. On the other hand, I haven't made the recess yet and then the "real" shields look out of place, they really have to be recessed to look good. If you're not planning to recess I would definitely just get the resin shields.

The badges I have are made by Jean Baccarat in France and sold on ebay by "investmentbadge"

By the way, I know that those $10 vinyl sticker sets from Griot's Garage and other places are indeed Ferrari approved, and they look a lot more like Nick's than Bert's.

I'm not trying to pick on you guys or start anything here, but are these badges made by the OEM Ferrari supplier? If not, are they legal to sell and aren't you guys afraid of getting sued? I recently spent some time and money researching what FNA considers "off limits," and I'm pretty sure that using their logo without approval is not a good idea. If these are endorsed, great, but if not please be careful.

I'm just trying to look out for you guys.

Hi,

Would rather wait as this way a single piece from each of your stock is in my hands for the shortest possible time, and at the same time. Should only take three days MAX for me to assess things. This is not like audio gear or anything that has to be "test-driven".

Just need to find a dealer or someone with official Ferrari shields to loan me one. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?

Enjoy the Drive,

Steven R. Rochlin

PS: Make sure you e-mail me at [email protected] before shipping them as i will be in Brazil for part of August. Interlagos awaits :-)

Paul's emblems for my 575 are gorgeous HOWEVER for them to fit the curvature of the fender properly and snuggly I took Eli's suggestion and had my body guy gently roll the emblem over a spray can to increase the curvature and it looks beautiful. This must be done very gently to avoid cracking the enamel.

Adrian,
I had it done on my 348. It involved cutting the fender and having the whole thing rebuilt with the rcess. My bodyshop is doing it for $ 350 a fender I believe. Did an outstanding job!

I think Andreas is missing the point of sticking versus studs regarding theft.

Someone will ATTEMP to take them regardless of how they are fixed (they won't know or care when they go to extract them), therefore if they are screwed the shields will/may remain attached to your fender but I reckon its anyones guess as to how good either your badge or fender will look after the attempt!

I guess we'd best not bring up the subject of recessing the badges!

Nickm and Paul,

Nichm - Yes, the sign from the guy in Tampa. i feel ripped off and it is NOT universal voltage either to top it all off. It looks like it was cobbled together (lackluster construction) and will not work within mods. It is not even properly insolated for outside (rain)! Now i have a nice paperweight, though did use ONE of the side pieces to hang on the wall. Great, an OVER 1k wall poster!!!! Strange as have purchased BOOKs from him and that went very well as did the $100 like-new leather tool kit holder for the 308. In fact the engine mechanics jump suit i got from the guy in Tampa is EXCELLENT! Oh well, guess three out of four (or so) is good odds. Money ebbs and flows, no biggie i guess.

Paul and Nick - have all the time in the world to compare the two shields and write a review. Feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] . Just trying to help. FULLY enjoy great items, yet hate being ripped off. Have NO axe to grind either way as i do not know either of you and, frankly, have NO desire for side shields on the 308. So this means i have NO vested interest either way. Just will call it as i see it.

Enjoy the Drive,

Nick- I really do not have a set right now to take a photo at this time. I will be getting more very soon. I will take a photo then. I only have a sample of a badge with a chrome horse. I will not post it because I do not sell the chrome badges any longer; just the ones with the black horse.

Tyson- the photo of my car is an old one. Prior to me selling the badges.

Justin Kenyon- Hello and thanks for the comments and note. The price has actually gone up a little since you bought your pair.

Steven Enjoy the Music- I do not have a sample to send you at this time. I will contact you when I do. I cannot get enough of these shields. By the time I get them they are all ready to be shipped out. Most of the time I do not keep an inventory. And if so, only for a few days.

Hehe, Steven I think I bought that same sign you bought. Did you get it from a guy in Florida? I paid only $1250. I am sure he has a few of them.
As far as the comparison of the two badges, I'd go for it just for the fun of it. But...you can tell pretty darn good exactly what my badges look like from my photos with the carbonfiber background. Also I know that nothing compares to seeing something in person.

As a professional writer/editor, audio reviewer, mechanical watch enthusiast, an artist of sorts, etc., am willing to "review" one badge from each of you. Will describe each in detail and include many photos accordingly. Will naturally send them back once the review is completed. Can also get original factory ones for comparison if desired.

Alas, have been "ripped off" by someone who claimed to have real dealer signs, only to find my $1,800 was wasted on what i would consider as rubbish. Money is not the point, properly respresenting one's product and quality thereof is.

Are you both game?

Hmmm... You'll have to post a photo. Don't you have any photos handy of your badges, you've been selling them for quite a while? I think I remember seeing a photo of a badge you had which looked like someone took a 3D Ferrari horse emblem and attached it to the center of the badge? Was that yours? You had a chrome one and a black one, right?

Nick, I will post a new picture as soon as I can. It may take a week or so. The reason I wanted to make a trade with you a couple of months ago is because I mentioned to you that I had 2 pairs of shields for a 360 with a chrome horse and wanted to trade for a black horse shield. Also, believe it not, mine for $225 pp are just as nice as yours for alot less. I agree that you usually get what you pay for and in this case, without seeing both sets in person, they seem identical. From your picture, and from the shields that I have, the colors and details are identical. Maybe they come from the same manufacturer. Let people decide.

Hey Paul, How's it going? Yep, that's my photo, I actually took it! Thanks for the heads-up Ernie, otherwise I wouldn't have looked at Pauls link. I'm not going to flip because you "borrowed" my photo, but please post a photo of your badges. I'm sure guys might like to see what they are getting for thier $200. You emailed me about 2 months ago wanting to trade your badges for a pair of badges I had....not sure why???? Why don't you post a nicely detailed photo of your $200 badges here so everyone can check them out. Mine are just a bit more $$ ($149 extra) but I think we might notice a slight difference?? I really dont care if your selling yours for less, please just post your own photo. Heres a new photo I just took of a pair I have for only $349. i

Simon, I sent you a note directly. Check your email.
Mike, thanks for the compliment.
James, since alot of the newer cars (360,575,F50, Enzo)have the shields from the factory as an option, they have gained alot of interest from owners that do not have them but want them on their cars. They are obviously not "factory competition Ferrari's". People get them as an option from the factory or aftermarket as a personal preference. Its a matter of taste and opinion.

" Also, I have found that most people that have bought the shields, do not want to drill any holes."

Wow! That is interesting. I am even afraid that some kid with a screwdriver will try to pry off my screwed on shields. I would have never thought anybody in his right mind would just stick them on. Hmm, I guess they don't live in a big city...

I was even afraid about the 'Design by Pininfarina' shield without screws. And that thing weighs nothing. Luckily I find one with screws, hehe.

Adrian, if intereested, email me directly and send me your telephone number.I will call you and answer any questions. As for my shields, they look just like the OEM "real deal" as Andreas puts it. However, mine are almost 2 1/2 times LESS the cost of the other ones he mentions. Also, I have found that most people that have bought the shields, do not want to drill any holes. That is why I no longer carry those with the posts. I am sure the others are just as nice as mine, but for about $200 less, which would you buy?

Uh hey Paul, the shields in the picture you have aren't yours. They are from a friend of mine. How do I know? Cause he took the picture of those shield at his shop, and I have seen the shields, and the original pictures he took right after he did them. If you intend to sell shields DON'T misrepresent what you are selling. Use the pictures of the actual shields you are going to sell, NOT those of others.

Adrian, Paul's shields are fairly heavy (as they're supposed to be) and I wouldn't just stick them on with the sticky tape. Although you could do that and it wouldn't affect the finish of the car if you'd ever take them off.

However I would much rather drill a couple holes and use the screws to make them fit permanently. Paul offers that option too.

The shields are so unexpensive, that I wouldn't take them off when selling the car anyway.

For position I would recommend looking at pictures of a 288 GTO. But you'll figure it out really in the garage: They way they're bent, there aren't really many options to place them on the fender.

Just for the record: The shields I have now on my 308 are from HGparts, another sponsor on this website. Those shields are btw the real deal, no replicas. But come at a higher price.

Paul, I have a 328. Do you have one that fits properly? Where would you put the shields specifically, I mean measurements from reference points etc. Finally, how do you attach the shields? I know you mention epoxy/double sided tape, but are these permanent? What if I sell the car and want to keep the shields?

I think these shields work great for a 355/360 but less good for a 308 because of that curvature.

I noticed these are slightly curved....does this curvature need to change, depending on what car's fender it's to be mounted to? I was thinking how a 360's fender would be more/less curved than a 308's, and therefore would need a shield with a different shape....

Hello Fellow FChat members. Rob Lay is allowing me to post this offering.

If anyone is interested, I sell Scuderia Shields that are the same size and color as the OEM shields. They are curved and made of metal. The colors are fired glass cloisonne. They weigh approximately 8 ounces each and can be installed with double stick tape or epoxy. Put them on your car or display them in a showcase with your trophies or models. The price per pair is $225 plus postage. Guaranteed you will like them. Email me direct with any questions.
Rob, thanks again for allowing me to post this. http://www.ferrariads.com/classifieds/upload/296.jpg
