Ken,

You may want to check mine out also. It was just on ebay. But it didn't close because the buyer found a couple of minor thing he wanted to deduct for. He still may buy it after I correct them but my car is technically back on the market now. '86 w/o ABS. I was asking $34K but you can see it went for $28K on ebay. I have another offer now for $29K but would definitely sell it for $30K.

Average NADA for it is $32K

Ken, if Mondials are like 328's and were equipped with ABS as an option in mid-'88, this one may not have ABS. It appears to be an early 88 based on the VIN and our 328 Register below (see the updated list in the middle).

I'm not sure ABS is that big of a deal anyway??? The car looks nice... have you been over to Park Place to see it yet?

Very cool. That's nice to know about the "anti-lock" light on the dash. I have a Mondial 3.2 86/87 US version owners manual. Ergo, no reference to that light.

Graci.

Ken, back to Mondial pricing. Although I don't own a Mondial (yet) I've been looking at the asking prices for awhile. I agree with the comments made thusfar. 38k seems a resonable "asking" price if its been maintained and recently serviced. The pictures on the ebay listing indicate that its in good condition.

The light on the dash is "anti- lock" if so equipped. Its to the right an just above the "brake failure" light.

Mine was built in Sept 87 and has ABS (I believe...) There's a "brake failure" light in the middle of the dash at the bottom.

I have an 88 coupe with ABS. There is a check light that comes on in middle of dash if so equipped. ABS arrived in mid 88 an later build cars. Mine is a Nov. 88 build date.

When I last checked the NADA guide for an 88 Mondial coupe the retail pricing mid-point was $30M. Cabs get about $8M premium.
As for ABS, my 88 almost has it. When I replaced a wheel bearing I noticed that it had the stub axle for ABS with the toothed wheel on the end but it wasn't hooked up to anything. Quality control at it's finest. I do so love the drama that comes with Ferrari ownership. :-)

I don't think you can tell by looking at the wheels on a Mondial-- my 86 had wheels which looked just like this one, and it did not have ABS.

I just traded my 86 in on a 456 last week. I think $38k is a reasonable *asking* price for a very nice 88, but don't get confused and think asking prices are the same as selling prices. I would think this car, if it truly has a recent major service (i.e. in the last year), would be a $33k-$35k selling price car.

It's hard to judge condition based on these pictures, so if it's rougher in person than lower the price accordingly.

My car was pretty rough, and if I had had to sell it myself, I would have asked $30k and hoped to get mid 20s. I ended up getting mid-20s on the trade with no hassles, so I was happy.

Hi,

Don't be alarmed -- this is not a thread hijacking -- it's just a thread "borrowing." :-)

In regards to Mondials with ABS, I understand that 86's don't, 87's might, and 88's do. Is that accurate? And my big question: How can I tell by looking at the car whether or not its ABS equipped?? I've asked some dealers as well as owners and each reply was, "Ummm... I'm not sure."

Is there a way I can tell by looking somewhere on the car?

Thanks.

I have a Quatrovalvolle 3.0, 1984 for sale that can be had in the low 20s maybe as low as $20K.

Also a Mondial T Platinum Award winner at Cavallino Classic 2003 for low $50s or high $40s.

What is condition of top, boot, and interior? Can be huge price difference, depending on these items with a Mondial. Big reason for bargain Mondials showing up on the market.

Convex wheels does not mean ABS!

I echo the sentiments here: what was in the service? Can you see all the records? I've seen nice 3.2's in the low 30's; other 3.2's in the high 20's that may have not been so nice but I didn't know about that. A high 30's 3.2 better be a perfect car.

I thought all of the 3.2 Mondials has convex wheels? I've think I've seen 87's that have those wheels and I know they don't have ABS. Where are our Mondial historians?

My understanding is that all 88 mondials have ABS and this car does - convex wheels.

I think $38k is probably reasonable if the MAJOR belt service has been done by someone reputable. 32-33 if not. Clutch should be a factor - cost me $1500 to replace that this spring.

And whatever you do, pay close attention to the convertible top mechanism and latches. They are not "robust" and are very expensive. The mechanism should not bind. When securing the top, pull on the front bar and "GINGERLY" secure the latches. They are $175 a piece and I've broken two of them getting used to the feel of it.

Uh oh Ken, you must be getting close, you're posting this all over!

I don't know enough about Mondials, but was wondering if they followed the 88.5-89 suspension/antilock brakes mods that the 328 did? If they did, does this car have them?

looks in good shape says was just serviced but not sure what they mean - 38 is way too much I would say off the top of my head - 31-33 maybe less maybe more - it is a dealer so they may not be flexible

I can't seem to find much pricing info online to compare with this car. Can someone please help me out on the value based on the Ebay info.
