It does, doesn't it! Which reminds me, some issue of Racecar Engineering had a letter from a kid who was trying to get performance out of his gravity racer--he used a tuning fork to find all the vibration frequencies and then tried to eliminate them. It had made quite a bit of difference, from what I remember.

I have a friend who studied transportation design at the Academy of Art in San Francisco. He is currently at GM, doing great things. For his final design project before graduation, he did a "modern interpretation" of the Bugatti Type 37. Hope you like it as much as I do...

Allan The EB 110 is a great bargin BUT parts via Dauer who is the only source so far as I know aren't. It really can't be compared to an Enzo as an Enzo is a much more modern car. Even though it's more than an EB 110 IMHO a Mercialago is a much better relative value than an Enzo and the GTR will probably be more so. These are much more modern, sorted and parts are totally better. Dic k Fritz is still around and he's had the most experience in the US. Dauer can be reached as well. I doubt an EB 110 would keep up with an Enzo on a track or a Murcie GTR either. |

Im sure the Bugatti is substantially heavier than the Enzo, so it would need 700hp to pull away from it. I saw 2 of them at Monterey this year. Awesome cars. |

The EB110 is still being manufactured (well not technically as the last two "new" ones are for sale) by Dauer who bought out the rights to it a while back. http://www.962lm.com/eb110/index.htm The interior looks to have been updated a bit and looks a bit more modern to match the exterior. Phenomenal looking car in black IMO. |

DES- I was amazed by how small the EB110 was in person. With a car of that size, with the power it is profesed to make, I can belive it'd saunter away from the Enzo in the right hands. Faisal- Was that Canepa's car you drove? I think he said it had over 700hp, and certinly had the wildest engine bay I've ever seen. :D) (DES- Faisal has an awesome orange Elise that you have to see to belive. It's light as hell, I watched him push it around the garage with two fingers!) Best! Ben. |

Faisal, it was her Bugatti, but James was driving...

Chit...! i was there last April...!!! Nex time, though, you can guarantee i'll let you know... i'd love to hear more about your drive in an Enzo... An Elise...? i saw one at the car show, but have never been in one... i like Lotus; i like their cars, they're certainly exotic in my opinion... Billy Zissis gave me a ride in his Esprit V8 TT and i thought i would need a doctor afterwards - my head hurt from being into the head rest and my cheeks were burning with pain from smiling (no, i'm not joking or even exaggerating)... By the end of the night, i was actually kind of anxious to leave in the hopes that my smile would fade... i went to bed that night with a very sore face... |

James, instead of cigars and Scotch, shouldn't you have quit Countessa's? Hope she wasn't driving! DES, guilty. Silicon Valley has its advantages. Those shifters take some getting used to, as does the Enzo's power. I didn't drive it very well. It's not my favourite car when it comes to looks, but it sure snarls forward when prodded. On a somewhat lower level, hurtling around corners and zipping across straights in an Elise has to be experienced to be believed. If you ever come to foggy San Fran, give me advance notice.

i never did get those pictures... Faisal, you drove a Bugatti...?
quote:I have not driven an Enzo at the same pace, so I can't comment on that
You've driven an Enzo, too...? :::GASP!:::
quote:The brakes were not the greatest, but I was told that the pads needed to be changed--they wear out very quickly.
i would guess so when you're doing 183...! i love the Bugatti EB110; more so than the Veyron (although i haven't seen the Veyron in person)... i saw a blue EB110 in a showroom out in California when Jean-Louis picked me up from the airport... Saw a lot of cool stuff that night, but had always wanted to see a Bugatti and that night, it happened...
quote:i quit cigars and scotch the night the Countessa got sick in the Bugatti...
That's my favorite Bugatti quote... |

FWIW RacingFlix.com has an episode Top Gear with Jeremy Clarkson test driving the Bugatti EB110 and Diablo SE30. You do have to register to download the video but it's not particularly difficult. |

Yes, performance-wise it's one of the most refined supercars that I have ever driven. The all-wheel drive helps it put the power down to the ground very well. I have not driven an Enzo at the same pace, so I can't comment on that, but the Bugatti forces you to look miles down the road, and plot your progress point to point. It's roadholding in the curves is great--I backed off long before it felt like I was anywhere near the limits. I don't think I exceeded 183mph (on the straights). Interior styling was not very nice, IMO. The one I drove was the SuperSport version, but the performance differential between that and the "regular" EB110 is supposedly minimal. The brakes were not the greatest, but I was told that the pads needed to be changed--they wear out very quickly. I don't know this for a fact, but I think the difference in "push" is due to the quad turbos ramming air in versus a naturally aspirated motor taking the biggest gulps it can. And the difference in "feel" would be the awd versus the rear wheel drive. There's one available for sale in norther California nowadays, if anyone's interested. I don't know if it has been brought into EPA compliance, but it is on the shortlist of approved cars for Show and Display, so that's half the battle already as far as legalizing it (for the US) is concerned. |

Allan, here are a couple of previous threads that might provide some insight. This first one asked the same question: http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/251280/181035.html And in this one we learned that a couple of well-known F-chatters had experience behind the wheel of an EB110. I'm fairly certain that at least one of them was being truthful. http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/256121/193054.html |

Has anyone here ever driven a Bugatti? Reading in the new Evo, there is a article about a convey of several cars, an Enzo,f50,F40 and a Bugatti. They make reference that the Enzo is much faster than the F50 and F40, but they say that the Bugatti, is on another plane. Heres a quote" Everytime i heard its engine not harden, id flick the Enzos left paddle twice and mash the throttle into the bulkhead. It never did any good. Who'd have thought i'd want more power in the drivers seat of Ferraris fastest ever supercar?" Anyone haveany experience with them? I never realised they where so fast. |
