"don, you say to drain sump and block, remove filter, then pour fresh oil into sump before closing sump and block plugs. wont this fresh oil then drain right back out? is this intentional to rinse out the screen? " It will drain out and take some of the crude that is still in the sump. I was only referring to using 1 quart. Not a lot of oil. This is done BEFORE the plugs are put back in place. Also, There are 4 bolts that attach the bottom plate to the sump tank. If you are careful, You can remove the bolt and remove the cover (after the oil has been drained) to clean the sump screen of the metal shavings. Take care in removing the plate so the gasket does not tear. |

Neal, yes it will run right back out. I think Matt probably meant to say put the plugs back in first. The only difference between changing the oil on a 348 and any other car is the oil tank and the amount of oil. You just have to remove 2 plugs instead of 1 and add more oil than most cars, otherwise it is just as simple. You can get the filters for about $16 from Dennis McCann Auto parts ph# (614)855-1103. I buy them several at a time and get a nice discount for buying that way. The filter is a Purflux LS925 the item # is 130623. |

Neal. Raise the car. Drain the Sump tank (careful not to strip it) Drain the engine block. The drain faces forward on the passenger side. It's not a downward facing plug. 12mm allan key Remove the filter. Pour fresh oil in the sump. Close block and sump plugs Attach new filter Fill the sump Warm car and check level Matt |

Neal, I haven't done it myself but it seems fairly straight forward. http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/256120/212940.html I have heard that you need to be careful not to strip the plugs, and that the gear oil plug is very near one of the motor oil plugs but they should be marked. Vincent. |
