Sam, you can this link and see the HRE wheels on my Mondial 3.2 cab. I think they are beautiful and really make the car. Go for it. http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/18/184387.html?1043425959 |

Steve Thanks for the email. You are absolutely right that there is a much larger offset with the ABS wheels. Sorry I'm not near my data, but my Speedline wheels were specific for ABS 328 and Mondial 3.2 (the 328 'Club Cab') as well as the t. The 348 and later wheels fit just fine as far as offset on these ABS Mondials and I've seen several. If you have the #'s for the ABS Mondials/328/348, they should be a good reference when comparing to the reported 55mm non-ABS offset. My stock wheels are stored somewhere else as well, but sure would be a good thing to post all these #s and compatabilities for the future. hope this helps best rt |

JRK: Will 355 wheels also fit a 308QV without modification (other than maybe spacers)? |

Russ -- Others have reported that the 390mm wheels on the non-abs Mondial have a +55mm offset: http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/256120/27759.html. http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/18/102.html The later abs-equipped cars may have even larger "+" wheel offsets (so could still be a problem on a non-abs Mondial and require some minor spacers), but I'm fairly sure that the non-abs 308/328 wheels (with ~+11 mm offset) are not compatible with non-abs Mondial wheels/chassis (the illustrations in the non-abs Mondial SPCs show a wheel with a large "+" offset too). I note your '88 3.2 Mondial has aftermarket wheels -- do you have the stock wheels available to measure/compare? Sam -- If you can remove a wheel/tire (you've got matching 390mm all around right?) and use a ruler I think you could measure/guesstimate the wheel offset close enough (even with the tires mounted) to compare the two sets (assuming the seller can do the same) and determine what spacer(s), if any, might be necessary. If you need some help with how to measure/calculate offset give a shout. |

Of course JRK's great looking car is a Mondial t with ABS, and yours is a pre-ABS Mondial 8. The offsets ARE different. Wheels from any Ferrari post 1989 have different offsets (backspacing). The bolt pattern is indeed the same, but the handling will be squirrley and the tires/wheel will stick BACK into the car further, and load up the wheel bearings in a way they were not designed. Newer wheels really do add a lot to a Mondial as they said and show, and I concur with you getting new wheels. Check the list of FChat Members for Mondials and you will see many have replaced their wheels, but remember that the offsets changed with the 3.2 cars. Hope this helps Good luck and have fun. best rt |

Sam, Definitely find out and match up the offsets before purchasing. The bolt pattern may be the same, but that may be all. You may even need longer (or shorter)bolts too...so there are several things to check first. |

Hi rt: The seller claims they will fit my car, but of course I can't be sure. Thanks for the advice. Sam |

Sam 1990 t wheels have different offsets than your 82 - they are set up for ABS. There are numerous aftermarket (try: www.GaRedcars.com), and I think that the 16" non-ABS 308/328 wheels may fit ok. Those tire sizes for 16" are ok for fit, but the rear diameter will be a bit smaller and may look a bit odd. Would also suggest you look at going to 17". Good luck, and get something you like! best rt |

I'd like to put 1990 Mondial T Wheels on a 1982 Mondial 8. Would the following tire combo be OK, or would it look odd or effect handling: 205-55 vr16 frt. and 225-50 vr16 rear. I know stock is 205/55 ZR16 frt. and 225/55 ZR16 rear. Thanks Sam |
