So..we always go to the runway first when we arrive at Mountain Air to see what's there and lo and behold we saw this. At first I though it may be privately owned, but turns out they were flying in convoy from AZ and had a mechanical issue. Something similar to the a engine synchronizer. They were ordered to stay put on the mountain, so I am sure it was sort of a vacation with first class rooms at the lodge, golf, Derby Party on Saturday, dinner, and more parties! It should be gone by now as they were to dismantle and truck it down or lift with a sky crane. Then came the King Air....

It was very cool to see the "Super Huey" take flight and disappear off the end of the runway as it dove into the valley below. The brave man riding "Hells Gate" looked like a dare devil as it dropped over the edge. Thank God for our young, dedicated, and fearless.

No kidding! I have a separate thread just below here on that incident. Lot's of excitement at Mountain Air!

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/aviatorchat-com/486608-little-king-air-mishap-moutain-air.html

Speaking of Mountain Air I need a flight from KAND Anderson, SC to Asheville KAVL to get the car from Firestone, drop it off at MA 2NC0, check out the riverhouse, then back to KAND from MA. Yes, I am a hitch hiker! I'll pay for fuel and lunch...lol. Watch the video first, it's required prior to landing Mountain Air Pilots Association.

Oops! Sorry, had missed your prior post & was caught up in the other pictures you'd attached.

Was hanging out with a bunch of friends on Tuesday, and most of the 1st responders were showing off pictures of that particular incident. Certainly glad everyone came out OK.

At least he landed in the parking area, albeit at a private strip. Otoh if you or I were to land at a military installation, it may have been our last.

What makes you say that? I've done a good number of landings at Nellis AFB. At least when I lived in Vegas, they were always accommodating for training assuming you weren't requesting to come in during busy hours.
