Dr. Tommy Cosgrove has been thinking of selling his Tubi (US 308QV is the same as 328 exhaust) and getting a Stebro. Of course, the Stebro is only $1325, plus you can get 10% off if you're an FCA member. Have you considered one of those? I really like mine.

www.stebro.net (though website list is incomplete)... be sure to pay with credit card, there have been a few reports here of delivery problems. Talk to Dan to get the Ferrari Club (FCA) discount if you're a member.

And watch what shows up on your credit card from Dan at Stebro - nice guy, but the charge on my card was a couple hundred dollars more than the price agreed via tel. Definitely pay by credit card so if there's a delivery problems or funky charges you can do something about it.

Or go to a good racing shop (mine was near DC) and have a bespoke system made and installed for $600 that performs and sounds as good or better. I did this and sold my tubi. Just an option that worked for me.

ANSAs are a better value. Aluminized steel instead of polished stainless.

Unless you need the mirror, to comb your hair, or something........

I have one and love it... PLUS they have removeable tip inserts so you can take them out and REALLY make it roar if you choose to, or keep them in for longer trips. With the tip inserts installed, it sounds pretty much the same as a Tubi, though maybe slightly deeper at lower revs.

Ansa does not sell a 328 US spec system --just talked to Paul. They are working on it. Just a Euro system.

If you don't require an OEM muffler, get a SuperTrapp, CherryBomb or other universal fit type. They work and sound great for a few hundred bucks or less. Any good muffler shop can do any necessary fabrication work needed to fit. I heard a BB512i with four CherryBomb type glass packs and it sounded better than any other Boxer I have ever heard including ones with the high dollar TubiStyle ones!

I have a 3.2 Mondial, same engine as a 328, and am quite happy with a single Dynomax muffler with two twin Ansa resonated tips from Paul at Ansa - very smooth, low tone; quiet at cruise, but sings on throttle. I replaced the tubi I had purchased several years earlier with this custom system as the tubi was just too loud for routine use. Any good race shop can put this together, and mine was $600 for everything installed.

If you really want a pre-made cost-no-object system, I think the best is the Capristo based on what I have heard. Again, I didn't consider cost, and found for me a custom system best met my requirements for a light flow through muffler quiet enough for a daily/trip car with a lower tone like a 365GTC/4

The FChat rule of old is you buy a muffler for the sound you like, not neccesarily for any promises of hp.

There are many exhaust sound clips on the board, and I have a couple if you have trouble finding them.

Have fun - the sound is an important part of Ferrari enjoyment!
    Good luck!

Just sold my 3.2 stock/OEM muffler on ebay for $250.00. I've heard that the stock muffler with test pipe(s) provides a nice sound with a modest bump in HP. I believe there is a stock/OEM muffler for a 3.2 on ebay right now. My car now has the Stebro muffler with a test pipe and it sounds great but probably louder and with more resonance than you might like for anything more than an hour or two drive.

I just switched out my aged cat with a hyperflow cat(not test pipe) from ricambi and my car has a throutier sound to it. I am sure it would sound even better with the test pipes. I am thinking about buying a stebro. Dan is selling them for 1200 right now,
    -Nate

    Hey Cliff,
Do you have a sound bite of your mondial with the stebro on it?

If you're an FCA member, don't forget you get a 10% discount, unless that's a special price with no other discounts allowed.
