No pics Ross. I dont believe you have a car at all! In fact you might not even exist and it could be a computer posting!
Wow Ross. after reading so much about the car it looks more stunning than I expected. Another Fchatter on here has found me a 456 which i am considering to buy as my daily driver. Problem is for 6 months it will be my only car. I have three cars found, all very low miles, from 99-2002. How have you found the 456 to drive daily?
thanks ! i do think it must be the best 456mgt in switzerland. i bought it from a dead man with 3.5km on the clock. fully vetted by ferrari in zug and geneva. will be hard to part with it if i ever decide to sell it.... it works pretty well as a DD. i havent got winter tires on it since i wont drive it in the snow. but rain and everything else is fine. the only issue you will find if you use it like i do for a short commute and mostly in-town driving is that the gas mileage is unbelievably bad - 6 mpg or 37 ltrs/100km....! but hey, you only live once right !
I daily drive my 456MGT, it is quite practical and comfortable. The car is discreet so you can park it everywhere without attracting major attention. I drop off my girls to school so back seats are a must, while tight they are ok for short distances. Mileage is terrible, and 6 sp is probably 3 too many b/c of the great torque. I would say that is as practical as a 911 or XKR with a tad more space in the back and tad more acceleration. Being able to drive a Ferrari everyday is truly unique and worth doing!
My 456 works quite well as daily driver (my wife will also drive it any time she has a chance) with the only caveats being the front overhang every once in a while and the length of the doors, a problem common to several 2-door cars, in tight parking spots. Fuel consumption is 12 mpg on avg.
Yes, I am also quite surprised! My 550 has never gone down that far, and it is essentially the same V12. Worst I've done is about 13 mpg, but granted, I have not sat in traffic much nor have I done a lot of urban driving. At the same time the throttle pedal has seen plenty of floor mat up close... Onno
yes it is grigio titanio, and a carbone interior. the pics make it look bland but in person the color difference is sufficient. i think my gas mileage is so bad because my daily commute is all of 2.5 km, and if there is not much traffic the engine never gets to optimum temp, so my consumption is high; and if there is traffic, then i just sit there burning it up and not going anywhere. on trips it has avged between 12 and 14mpg depending on the country.
Read the article last night. Fanstastic read my friend are really got a feeling of not just the experience but also you personal achievement. Enjoy the car.
Thanks again - let's focus on Ross' car and his trip through Italy now! She looks in great shape, Ross. Onno
i live in chene bougeries. the odd thing is that i have not seen another 456mgt on the street here in about a year....where is everybody? there are 3 for sale, but apparently nobody else owns one.
i see where it is. it happened to me to walk around this area on sundays all of last year, if i only knew. The 456s are quite rare, you have to look more arund Pregny etc on the other side of the lake. several owners there.
