Beautiful - this is what the 599 styling should have been in the first place. Smooth, flowing and classy. The side vents in the GTB don't really blend with the whole design well and I think I've always considered this the main flaw Anymore renders available? PS Any orders in for this?
One thing leads to another and nothing goes like expected. This project was started for a customer who initially came in our workshop for a 630 GTO. When the client found out about all the other possibilities he decided to go a bit further, resulting in this sketch. The carbon fibre roof is being developed by Edo Competition in Germany, who is also our technical partner for optional engine- and suspension upgrades. We have to decide if this car will be built as a one-off, but maybe there's more interest in a very small series. Much depends on the development costs. A one-off will not be cheap.
This is one of the most gorgeous shapes I've ever come across. Stunning. Fantastic work, Michiel - why the hell isn't Andrea Pininfarina camping at your doorstep begging you to join him?! Are there any more images of this piece of art?
Thanks! This Convertible is a work in progress and this is the only image I want to share... for now...
Michiel, Beautiful car however the top of the window frame, does it not come too far back? I mean in terms of the vehicle occupents entering the vehicle? Regards, Matthew
Many manufacturers have struggled with that. Practicality? Safety? Roll bar... yes or no? The A-pillars need to act like roll bars and therefore cannot be too low. Look at the Peugeot and see how far they reach above the driver's head. Not very practical when entering the car, but it is safe when rolling over. The distance between the driver's head and the A-pillar from the Mercedes SL is similar to our GT Convertible. The front window is still standard 599 GTB. The contour lines are stunning but I am afraid it will share the same grill of the 599 Coupe GTO which I am not a fan of. All in all though a superb job Michael.
Somewhat similar, yes. Not exactly the same, because the car has different lines which dictate a slightly different usage of the 'double grille'
Bump! Michael, any updates??? Also how did you become a designer??? Thinking of going back to school to become a auto designer.
