I contacted the developer and he is willing to test his application on the 2.7 and 5.2 if we can send him a binery file from the motronic. Anyone know to do this?? Jan
Wow if it works on 5.2 its a gold mind! Keep us posted. NoDoubt is the guru for the motronic 2.7. He says that the 5.2 is another level of complexity.
Developer has asked for PN for the chip (apparently Infineon) or for the Motronic ECU.. he has some Ferrari binary filesand can narrow it down if he has PN. J

M5.2 is probably protected at the chip level (5.2 software is stored in memory, not on chips, but the chips control access) by Ferrari from outside viewing/editing. Those who do it have probably gotten insider help from someone at Ferrari Spa.
Not a chance. That's a good looking OBD1 chip editor. In contrast, M5.2 is OBD2 and requires a computer interface and probably an encryption/decryption key or at least a password. Looks like that editor works for the Fiat Punto's M2.7, though...so it should be comparitively easy to get it to work on the Ferrari 348's and 1995 F355's M2.7 chips.
( LNDSHRK ) Jim Conforti is on here somewhere and he may have some ideas. I know that he's done a massive amount of ECU programming on the bosch motronics in the BMW arena. I recall back in '00 that to program the new BMW's we'd have to interface with the DME and make a copy of the code then in order to access it there was a key that had something to do with the VIN. in any case a conversation with Jim somewhere in '03~'04 he mentioned trying to 'crack' the 360 code for the aftermarket. I haven't followed up since then, but I imagine that he's got some good ideas or options for the 5.2.

Post 1990 Ferrari 348's, 355 Challenges, and 1995 355's = M2.7 = OBD1 = chip-based fuel maps All other Ferrari 355's = M5.2 = OBD2 = Flash memory fuel maps Flash memory requires an ECU flasher *and* permission to flash (often a password or decryption key, based on how the manufacturer set it up).
Perhaps its a good time for you or Jim to start dialogue with the developer and find out just what his app is capable of.. he seems to believe 5.2 is doable.. perhaps he is mistaken. Maybe, between the experts, it can be worked out.
The problem with the 5.2 is that, AFAIK, you need to unsolder the EEPROM to read its content. This is a huge risk if you don't have the proper equipment. The Galletto is supposed to be able to write, and only write, in the 5.2 but I never read a confirmation that it has been done successfully by somebody. There is an alternative to DMEeditor which is called WINOLS. This programme includes, among others, a feature to recognize, or at least to help to locate, the Bosch maps. A free demo version can be downloaded ... just google "winols"
If I can find a spare 5.2 ECU as a test bed, Ill take on the task of getting the equipment needed and staff to work on a reliable method of reading the 5.2 eeprom/flash (if its possible). In this respect, any help is always welcome. As far as desoldering, I understand there are tools available that have fixtures that attached directly to EEPROM terminals on the board w/o desoldering??
M5.2 uses a CC460 Bosch flash Eprom in a PLCC package. It's a custom part, and it's essentially unobtanium. You'll find only a handful of tools available to read them, even desoldered. Which, to do properly will require hot-air rework tools and big brass ones. (based on price of ecu and unobtanium chip) AFAIK, the Ferrari M5.2 cannot be read out via the OBD port - only written.
