typical Lewis fan tripe. you know it's over and you know the Mercedes is the best car. enjoy being smug
One DNF from Hamilton and it's game on, and there is certainly a good chance of that. And there are still so many variables at this stage, reliability crashing ect , folk can be so fickle in this sport, one bad result and it's game over. Ok another DNF from Vettel and I would tend to agree its Hamiltons to lose, if Hamilton plays it smart he won't be risk taking, thus putting pressure on Vettel. But he doesn't tend to do that, he likes to win every race, so the odds might not be as grim as some think. Half glass full, half empty seems the case for too many on here.
Ted on SKY said Mercedes used the May PU's. So thats PU#2 for both drivers. Not the latest spec. Thats an old PU and yet it holds up and still can win. At Sepang with the longer straights and larger power demands they will use something newer. Mercedes seem to have a solid frame of reliability right now. yes that can change of course. The smart money knows the window for Ferrari is very narrow to recover this. All the more painful for the devoted fans.
I wonder whether the impact of Kimis wheel in the cooling also did some damage on the engine of Seb...Because if the engine would be lost as well in this crash the damage would be even more than "just" the points..
Come on guys, there is hope! One DNF from Hamilton, Vettel wining all the following races and Kimi second,etc.. So many possibilities.
Very interesting. I do hope that MB went over their books and procedures after the Sepang disaster last year.
Remote hope is exactly what it is. You can grab onto slim chances all you want, but the only winners this year, as has been clear since they got the FIA to ban our fast bits, and exploited and cheated to get their spa engine into the rotation. Next year
According to the bookies it is almost over http://sports.williamhill.com/bet/en-gb/betting/t/4558/F1+Championship.html Lewis 1/7 Vettel 4/1 Bottas 100/1 Kimi Ricci Max 4000/1 But one Vettel win and a DNF for Lewis ,things would change yet again.i really hope it goes down to the last race, nobody wants a walk over, except Toto n Niki.
I think I will just keep watching to see what happens. It is a long shot and the odds are against Vettel, but no one gave Kimi half a chance in 2007 and look how that turned out. Also with these crap stupid hybrid power units, Mercedes (not just Ferrari) could have reliability issues before the year is completed.
Perhaps Max's over enthusiasm will play into Sebastian's hands in the next six races:- Monaco 2015 - Collision Great Britain 2015 - Accident Monaco 2016 - Accident Spain 2017 - Collision Austria 2017 - Collision Singapore 2017 - Collision
On the bright side, if Vettel keeps clocking just 1 mile per GP he might not need any new engines or turbos
Yer ,providing Mad Max leaves his Ferrari magnet at home. I hope he doesn't end up known as 'Crashtappen', that would be a real waste of potential.
SEPTEMBER 20, 2017 Title hopes not over for Vettel Lewis Hamilton says his championship rival Sebastian Vettel cannot be written off. In Singapore, as he extended his winning streak to a hat-trick, Mercedes' Hamilton pulled out a 28-point lead over Vettel, Ferrari's former championship leader. Niki Lauda, the F1 legend and Mercedes team chairman, thinks Vettel's first corner crash on Sunday cost the German dearly. "28 points is not bad for us," Lauda told Auto Motor und Sport. "Until now, it was always two or three points in one direction or the other. But 28 is a cushion. "I would say this was a small preliminary decision," he admitted. Briton Hamilton, however, doesn't think so. He is quoted by Bild newspaper: "Coming up we have Japan where you need a lot of downforce, so that definitely won't be our strongest circuit. "In Brazil the others will be strong as well, and in Mexico the teams with the most downforce could have the upper hand," Hamilton added. "Honestly I think it's going to be very close. It's hard to predict," he said. "We'll find out when we get there."
He already is crashtappen.....no matter how fast you are, the fact that other drivers fear being near him says it all, nobody is afraid of him for being fast, rather for being stupid.....it reminds me of something Nelson Piquet once said...."being is the midle of the gris is a very dangeous place, you look at you side and suddenly you see a ****ing driver like De Cesaris! you don't even wanna race anymore!!"
SEPTEMBER 21, 2017 Vettel can still win 2017 title says Brawn F1 boss Ross Brawn has backed Sebastian Vettel to bounce back and continue to fight for the 2017 title. After Singapore, where the Ferrari driver was blamed for the first-corner crash, the Italian press said it was the death knell for Vettel's title hopes. But Brawn, the F1 sporting boss, does not even agree that Singapore was clearly the German's fault. "Such a thing can always happen," he told Germany's Sport Bild. "It was a typical first lap accident," Brawn added. And the Briton, who was the technical boss at Ferrari throughout the super-successful Michael Schumacher era, also backed Vettel to recover his 28 point deficit to Lewis Hamilton. "The world championship is by no means over," said Brawn. "There are still six races to go. Vettel and Ferrari are so strong that they can still win the world cup on their own power." Brawn admitted that he has a soft spot for Vettel and Ferrari, saying the pairing reminds him of his time at Maranello with Schumacher. "It's inevitable that Sebastian and Ferrari remind me of my time at Ferrari," he admitted. "Sebastian resembles Michael very much in the way he stands by the team and sees himself as part of the whole. And I recognise the same discipline and focus in bringing Ferrari back to the top. "It will remain a tough battle between Lewis and him, but if he does it, he will have earned it," Brawn said.
https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/131944/vettel-can-use-singapore-shunt-engine-again Sebastian Vettel's Singapore Grand Prix engine is available to use again, after the Ferrari Formula 1 team found it escaped damage in the first-lap crash, Autosport has learned. Vettel's contact with Max Verstappen and Kimi Raikkonen off the line in Singapore caused sidepod and cooler damage, with the car spinning on its own fluids on the next straight, hitting the wall and retiring. Having examined the unit at Maranello, Ferrari feels the engine - the third of Vettel's allocation - can remain in the pool to be used again if required in the remaining six races. The news is significant as it reduces the chances of Vettel having to take a grid penalty later in the season for engine component changes.
