Wow , really great story, and with a happy ending, Is this the car that Flew over a lake and changed colors and then fooled the police ? There were a few Cannon ball run movies. I think the first one had Burt driving and wrecking a 935 in the first 60 seconds of the flick.,+ the second movie had the 2 girls in your Countach? Was there a third movie?

Jeff was my first customer at www.dmcflorida.com four years ago. At my grand opening he saw my Downdraft Countach that was on display and started asking about it. Over the years we have become great friends. When it came time to buy his first Countach we spent countless hours going over the different variants and searching for the right one to buy. When the Cannonball auction was made public Jeff and I spoke, he knew I wanted it but so did he. I knew if he bought it I would be able to drive it and visit it often so I bowed out of the auction since Jeff was in a much better position to buy it. I'm already securing rare bits and tires for the restoration. It is my honor to have a hand in the restoration of this special car and knowing it will be in our "family" for many years to come is almost as good as owning it ;)

Jeff has been a great friend over the years and a more generous person you will not find.

The car could not be in better hands.

    Congrats my friend.

good to know you will help in the resto project...i am sure there is not 1 single person that knows these LP400S cars better than you!

...and if you will ever need original owner's manual, tyres, ANSA exhaust.... ...ANY parts or bit to a OEM magnesium campagnolo wheel for it, drop me a line! ;)

this is a great thread, what a treat!

i LOVED this movie as a kid, as it still holds a place of honor in my movie collection.

to even see, or sit in the ACTUAL car would be a great benchmark.

to be able to OWN the actual car, is a rare blessing!

i too have wondered how the car actually sounds in anger. it has been written on L Power that a carb ferrari v12 was used in the beginning of the movie for the sound dubbing, and only in 2 parts on the Interstate shots can you hear the actual cars exhaust note.

anybody know why the car got those crazy pipes?

i look forward to reading of your time getting to know the car.

a "normal" black CT is a moving circus as it is, a famous one must be even more of a show in public!

The car definitely howls at speed, but its hard to determine from the inside what it sounds like on the outside. My friend followed me yesterday, and said the car sounds great, and also spits out an occasional flame out the 12 pipes when I downshift....
If I can figure out a way to record the sound and post it, I will!
In the meantime, here she is getting washed the for the first time (maybe the first time in quite a while) and I'm finding the car to be in better shape than I had originally thought!

    It looks GREAT, period!

I have always loved sitting on the side of the road, letting one of my friends go about a mile up the road and doing a "Fly By" all out run past me...makes you smile as you hear your car coming...TOP SPEED by you barking and then going away into the sunset...try it, so much fun!!

No, that's going. Unfortunately it was painted on, as was the Hawaiian Tropic logo, but they should come off fine.
I watched the movie for about the 1 millionth time tonight! I plan on bringing and keeping the car to exactly the way it was in the film.

Congrats Jeff!! I also have Cannonball Run 1 & 2 in my vid collection and on my prized car vid collection of all time list!!! I have watched this video a million times, especially the beginning! The sound is unbelievable! It was what started my dream of exotics at age 13!! Finally this year got myself a Gallardo! My first Lambo! I love it!!!

PS My favorite part of the Cannonball Run # 1 intro is when the cop in the Trans Am waves the Lambo to pull over and then the Lambo pins it and takes off at Mach 5!!! I love that!! And of course the comedy in that movie is second to none.

If Brock Yates actually follows through and does an updated Cannonball Run for the new generation, you should offer to get the black Countach back in!!!

The subject car of this thread opens the first film, The Cannonball Run with "Marcie Thatcher" (Adrienne Barbeau) and "Jill Rivers" (Tara Buckman) embarrassing the police. They go on to win the Cannonball.

    The Cannonball Run Intro

The Cannonball Run II opens with "Marcie" and "Jill", now played by Cathrine Bach and Susan Anton, in the white-to-red color changing highbody Countach (Series III LP400S?), which breaks down in it's second scene in the film.

    The Cannonball Run II Intro

The third film was to be called "Cannonball Fever" but was eventually titled Speed Zone!, after there were rights issues with the "Cannonball" name. It opens with a red "Countach" running from officers and then skipping across the lake in front of Lee Van Cleef and his "grandson".

Glad to see the car has a new home in the states and still in Florida no less.

Talk about a "someday" dream coming true..wow!!

My nephews had seen the car around Ormond beach a few times and would call me screaming at the top of their lungs about how they'd seen the Cannonball car.

Glad your gonna keep the 12 pipe exhaust and do a resto. This car belongs as it originally was when it put Lamborghini in the hearts, minds and dreams of millions of boys.
