See the machine. It's a Dynojet. That was what measured my car at 256 RWHP. The Dynopak was at 300. Imagine what this car is really putting out!

A couple of weeks ago I did a couple pulls on a Dyno Dynamics, and it had me a roughly 260hp to the wheels (259.9). But the operator was shutting it down at only 7000/rpm. I finally had to ask him to stay in it until he heard the rev limiter. He didn't stay on the throtte because he said it had topped out, which it had, but I was after the a/f ratios. Even though my car wasn't producing any more power, it wasn't losing power either. Stayed flat all the way out. Which to me means it needs more air.

Rev-limiter is at 10300rpm at the moment. The engine produces the max power at
about 9400 rpm. The result was reached at about 25°C outside !
At the moment there is a non-bypass-exhaust system with 200cell catalysts installed.
We will put the catalysts away and dyno the car at lower temperature outside. Lets see what will happen.......estimated 410 HP at the wheels (that's the F430 class)!

I will keep you up to date.....

    Regards

    Andi

Andi, you going to do a write-up on your car? Myself and others would sure like to know the details.

Okay, I will do this. But give me some time. Work will be done after the holidays, end of
august. There is some other work to do (brakes, hydraulic oil loss, fan.....).
Btw......car sounds fantastic, like a real aggressiv race car. I will make a vid.

Here she is (yellow one in front): She is a orig. 96' Challenge car (one of 72cars). Weight about 1280kgs.

Ernie, this is for you as I know you wanted to see it.

I had a little bit of Tuesday madness today so I decided to get the car on the dyno.

I did not do any tuning on the dyno and I am very pleased with the preliminary results. 253bhp with 216lbs torque, and it's a wonderful flat torque curve. Some yahoos said I could not get a perfectly flat torque curve with these wild cams :) This is somewhere north of 300bhp at the flywheel.

Anyway, the engine runs too lean above 5k rpm running between 14.1:1 and 14:1 which is where peak power is starting to come in so I'm definitely missing a solid 10bhp+ from that alone. These dyno runs were also done with a conservative amount of ignition timing. I did not want to push the timing too much with it running lean like this. I'll dial back the air corrector jets to richen things up a bit up north, dial in some more timing, and then really make some power. I know it's on the table which is all that matters now.

The dyno a/f ratio meter could not read off my exhaust correctly for some reason so I just datalogged the results on my meter.

I have no doubt once I iron out the a/f ratio and dial in a bit more timing I will see something north of 270bhp at the wheels. And the car weighs 2800lbs :)

As a side note, the 3.2L NSX there was in for a destroyed gearbox. It makes 247bhp at the wheels. Not nearly as pretty as the Pininfarina lines

    ROCK ON!

Thanks for posting up your results, and nice numbers. You are making solid 348 power. Richen up your a/f ratios to 12.5-12.8 and you'll make even more power.

nice numbers.... interesting how different your simulation puts the torque peak at compared to your actual dyno curve here on post #303

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=339674&page=16

the car must be hoot to drive with the extra torque

I'm sure of I hooked the flywheel directly to the dyno we would see torque at an rpm nearer to that of the sim. Drivetrain loss is increasing as rpm increases. Regardless, it's going to make numbers that the sim suggested with a bit more tuning. No doubt

will do ...... though may be doing it in a different thread ..... as it will be the first in a chronicle planned mod results ..... :)

Yeah, if I recall correctly, Pap's dyno chart was a good illustration of removing the twin can for a single hi flow exhaust ...

    Texas of course!
I contacted one of the sponsoring shops on here, they regularly dyno cars after major service it seems, and they told me the 355 doesn't dyno a lot higher than 348, not as much as you would expect looking at their HP ratings. Maybe we can get them to share some more details.

    That would be interesting.

Maybe the next time we do another dyno day, we could get some 355 guys to show up and see what they put down. I was hoping for that this last one, but didn't turn out that way. Next time, next time.

I would say before this month is out, I should have my 355 baseline run on this same 'dyno day' dyno .......... I located the final drive ratios for every gear in the owners manual ........ will post charts on this thread soon after that .... :)

whatever happened to the piggyback fuel controler idea? Lots of guys have done nice exhausts but not much in regards to intake or a brain that says "drink"!
