Sooo many opinions from so many users going on here that I'm a bit lost and would like to have a global idea as to how many people like it or dislike it. You know, just to be able to flame the other group if mine wins :D

I would prefer a couple more options in the poll. "Do you like it, yes or no?" is a bit all or nothing (but perhaps that's the point). If there was a "still concerned about the snout, but love everything else" option, that would be mine. Seems like the nose styling and the car's weight cause the most discussion so far. Regardless, I voted "like". I'd still take this thing in a heartbeat.

I hear what you're saying - there are a couple of details I don't like, and obviously I haven't seen one in the metal. And, there's never going to be another 250 GT SWB, Daytona, 308/328, 246, etc.

    That said...

Overall, I think Ferrari have a winner for the first time in a while (355/550 were and are beautiful cars).

Yes, I wanted it to be all or nothing, I'd like all those who, like you, find some concerns, to simply make up their minds and decide between like it or definitely not.

Ferrari turned out a great new model working with the restrictions that government standards place on them. If you want to complain about the weight of the 458 then you need look no further than all the rules that have to be followed. There is probably 300 pounds of features added so Ferrari can actually sell a car for people to use on the public roads.
Pininfarina has created an amazing new look for this mid-engine model. However it is not just about the visuals; it's the mechanical side that Ferrari has worked long and hard on to create a wonderful result. Everything was looked at by Ferrari to see how it could be improved. Even little details like the triple exhaust which reminds us of the F40. This is a real Ferrari and very modern with a look to match.

for those who complain that it's a 'porker', this is what has to be given some thought. safety legist gets more and more demanding. to be able to engineer a car for new-current standards and still have the car weigh very close to the outgoing car (not the stripped Scud) is an accomplishment in ways--as is the lowered emissions and improved fuel efficiency of the new engine despite being more powerful. however, the differences in crash structures and emissions for Euro cars compared to US spec, resulting in more weight for US cars, well that is a constant.

Look at the rear 3/4 view (the 'C' pillar in particular), how the cabin comes up from the rear fenders in a certain curvy way that makes the greenhouse almost oval shaped...this is the closest I'm getting to a P4/5 without being adopted.

The 458 is the best looking mass produced Ferrari since the 360.

I'm curious what they're planning to charge for it in the US? Probably looking at close to $400K out the door with reasonable options. Yikes! And, with a depreciation slide similar to the Scuderia i.e. $50 - 100K in a year once production ramps up a bit. Oh well, good looking car.

I'm telling yea, this car will be close to $400K out the door if not more with some options. They're planning on it being more exclusive, if you can believe what they've been saying to date.

same here. overall i do love the car. but i would love it even more with a scuderia-ish front bumper, a challenge style rear grill, drop about 300 lbs... but we can play that game forever. :)
