Hey guys, I'm posting this as an update of sorts. As seen there are many avenues to add power to these wonderfully classic Ferrari's, everything from head work and engine internal changes and Weber conversions to forced induction. Each choice has it's cost point associated to it, from just a couple thousand to tens of thousands, i.e. 3.5L conversion with charger.

I spent quite a bit of R&D developing the Supercharger system now available through Nick, it is not really a 'kit' if you will but a customized upgrade per each individuals taste. The supercharger has been designed to work on each model and variation, that's a total of 5! 308, 308Qv, 328, mondi 8 & mondi qv. another nice feature is that you can put it on your 308 and if you move up to a 328 you can swap it over with out any further modifications.

Contact Nick if anyone is interested, the price is higher than most, however it does include a quite a bit more. Myself and Nick both agree that running boost on the stock distributors is not a good mix, so the inclusion of the Electromotive is necessary. If you have upgraded the ignition already then that cost is not needed.

For those who want more excitement a simple pulley swap will take you from a modest 8psi all the way to a tire scorching 20psi. I have personally been running 20psi with no engine trouble but a fried stock clutch, it should be noted that this is on a recently rebuild motor with new pistons, seals and valves.

    I've included a pic of a 328 during the R&D phase.

Keep up the good work. As an aside, what mods would be required to you "kit" for a 308QV already fitted with EFI?

depends on the EFI I'd guess, if it's the electramotive then it's just a adding the supercharger. if it's another EFI it would come down to if it interferes with mounting the supercharger. if you want specific info just drop me PM or call Nick, we can suit it to your wants. ;)

I'm getting one of these! Nick didn't have it all together when I wanted to get started, so I've been building up gradually rather than waiting and doing it all at once. I've recently installed an Electromotive XDI-2 kit from Nick, and have ordered one of his new harmonic balancers, both integral parts of the SC kit.

Obviously the last of it will be the supercharger itself along with all the appropriate mounts, pullies and fittings. I'm planning on keeping my stock clutch for now, since it and the flywheel are almost new, but will later update to a more robust clutch and change pullies (which are reasonably inexpensive) for additional boost!

for the 308 the stock belt cover wont fit, I'm having a carbon fiber and aluminum option cover made that fits in place of the stock unit. the 328 has a smaller cover and thus can retain its original.

I personally run without one as it lets me access the adjustable pullies.

I'm travelling at the moment, but my daughter just informed me that the new harmonic balancer arrived from Nick! Moving forward, bit-by-bit...

I've got the blower unit already, and all the off-the-shelf parts have been ordered. We're waiting for some custom machined stuff now... the plan is to install it all the first or second week in May!

There's a dyno facility just down the street from the shop, so we'll have some numbers right away as part of the process.

You bet... actually, Scott & Nick are planning to use the installation process on my QV for the photos for the installation instructions/manual that will ultimately ship with the kits.

Cool. You're going to love the difference.

Don't forget to install boost gauge, at least temporarily doing tuning/dyno....you'll want to know where you are since you're the first QV engine it may be different than Scott's 2v. It needs to be connected to the plenum, no where else will do.

Don't forget the before dyno numbers so the after numbers make sense and you'll have a cool before/after graph.

Do you know what brand dyno you'll be using?

You've got the programable ignition with a map sensor right? I'd suggewst about 24-26 degrees of timing at 10 psi as a starting point....but but the other brand seems to be running full timing (32 degrees) at 8psi and it seems to be working, so I might be a bit conservative.

I do, but no map sensor installed yet. Nick at Forza said to use a 1-bar map sensor, but when I talked to Electromotive today, they said the supercharger is going to need a 2-bar or 3-bar sensor if I'm running boost.
It's a DynoJet. Here's the baseline from a year ago. These are back-to-back dyno runs for which the only change was for my K&N air filter swapped with a new UFI paper filter. We actually did at least 2 runs each way and the results were consistent, but I removed the extra lines to make it easier to see. The HP and Torque along the entire curve was consistently better with the K&N. Blue lines are K&N, red is the UFI.

You need a 2 bar map for 1-15 psi boost and a 3 bar for 16-30 psi, so for you a 2 bar is the right senor. It really is a ggod feature to hook-up if you can.

The graph looks good, you're all set with the baseline....now you just need the boost. I can't wait to see what you get.

Did you measure the A/F mixture when you did the baseline runs by any chance? That info might be helpful to know also.

haha, yeah those are the 'light' 50lb dumbbells :)

thanks, I think I over engineered the design however I wouldn't have it any other way.
