365BB diff carrier

It was not solved until the last 512TR, IIRC...others will chime in but WILLIAMH in Florida is the EXPERT with his TR racer, check with him on his vendor for the indestructible one.........

I think fixing it before goes saves the gears and lots of heartache...

No warning just a BANG and you trail gear oil down the street.....the casting just lets go.

 

Not surprised on parts, as failures with cars still running have FAR outstripped the supply and you don't want a salvage one obviously.....

Mine popped on a 79 BB512 at 5mph pulling out gently from a stop sign making a left hand turn. Ended up sourcing the differential from Ted Rutland and sending the unit to Rod Drew in CA to be rebuilt. You end up doing the syncrows and some other stuff while in there. Fairly expensive. Ted does a fair amount of this business with Rod Drew and I would give him a call and see what he has to say.

Hey, that's funny. But actually I go to the T Rutlands picnic every year in Atlanta and Ted actually does give away free t-shirts. I make sure I get one each time to get some of my money back. After a couple hundred years I may break even. But seriously, I would give him a call. It's good information. Just realize where they are coming from. They are good people IMO.

 

Modena engineering in austrailia makes a bullet proof carrier for the boxer and TR, might as well go for the gold first time around and be done with it forever.
