This car doesn't seem like much of an advancement to me, just a big wing and racing stripes for the extra cash - http://www.motortrend.com/features/auto_news/2007/112_0711_2008_dodge_viper_srt10_acr

    - Dodge says the ACR will cost "under $100,000" -- which could very well end up translating to $99,995 - when it arrives in the second quarter of 2008.

    - All told, the wheels, tires, rotors, and carbon fiber components conspire to reduce weight by 40 pounds over the base Viper, which tips the scales at 3450 pounds. Another 40 pounds can be removed by opting for the "Hard Core" package, which deletes the audio system (replacing the door speakers with carbon fiber panels), underhood silencer pad, trunk carpet, and tire inflator.

The new ACR is soooo cool. Sure its a Dodge but what fun it would be to own.

I have owned 3 GTS Vipers and loved every one of them. Raw to the core and will bite you if you are not careful.

What car nut cant appreciate this...

The rear wing will provide 1000 pounds of downforce @ 150MPH.

    1.5 g's in the turns and a 600HP V10. Oh yes!

Plus the Viper LOVES to be modded unlike Ferrari cars. Twin Turbo Vipers are amazing machines.

Actually, it is. Every 1 pound of unsprung weight removed from a car is equivalent to around 10 pounds of sprung weight, IIRC. Removing unsprung weight has a far greater impact on handling and braking.

Wasnt the old ACR basically the same thing as this? Dodge just lightened it a little, added some power, added a wing, and a couple stripes and called it good. It looked damn good though, as does this one.

Reponse: My chipped and suspension tuned Maserati Coupe kills the current version so bad it's not funny and with this years vette having the ability to run side by side on the track with the new Viper, I would bet the F430 will kill it in stock form... It's either C&D or R&T that ran the new Viper against this years vette and the vette won...

Normally I don't ever post. I'm just a car lover and appreciate really nice cars. I've had an assortment of cars and currently own my 2nd Viper(96 GTS). Having a sense of pride is your car is great but it's absolutely hilarious to me when people talk crazy about how fast there car is....IMO nice cars are nice cars....I haven't owned a Ferrari yet but plan to join the club someday.....I've driven them and it wet the appetite....But thinking any car is the greatest thing since sliced bread is crazy based on speed....Any car can be rediculiously fast. A lot of owning an exotic is being exlusive and all that crap (not exactly my cup but....)

The new ACR Viper is a very nice car. I'm disappointed Dodge didn't add more power to it (yet) but it's still a nice car. The new 430 is also great and I will pay respect but there are probably Honda Civics that are faster.....

The reason I haven't owned a Ferrari yet is the service. When I'm a little older the time will come but for now I'll just keep changing my oil and driving my car hard.

I've owned two GTSs, a 1997 and a 2000. They cars are what they are, brutal, cramped, and good looking (IMO). It is raw, not even close to Ferrari or Porsche in terms of refinement, and a completely different car to either of those two manufacturers. It is what it is, I don't see the point of debating its relative merit, it simply is a completely different driving experience. You either like it or you don't.

For less than 100K, that ACR would make a hell of a track car.

I have owned 3 Viper GTS's and enjoyed every one of them for what they are. They are fast, raw, and accept mods very well. They are VERY inexpensive to take care of...espicially when compared to a Ferrari.

They are what they are. Like it or not. One thing I don't do is disrespect other peoples choices for what they own. I just appreciate the enthusiasm for the hobby. Nothing turns me off more than a car snob or a ricer throwing around what they think is a good car or not.

For under 100K this new ACR will be a real thrill to drive. Mod the engine just a little with off the shelf parts and have you have 700++HP on tap. What more do you want of a Dodge? :)

Here is a link to a lot more pics of the car...

I couldn't agree with you more....It is what it is....I'm sure for another 100K Dodge could make a better quality machine. Count me in on the can't stand ricer crap but everyone has there own thing and won't bash somebody for liking something else. Also a Viper is out of reach for a lot of people which really makes a Ferrari way out of reach.

I wasn't trying to be a snob/biggot... Just kicking up a little dirt.. You are correct, Dodge builds some killer cars and not everyone can be a Ferrari owner...

Last time I check, this was still a ferrari forum, do you guys really expect to find anything but blind brand loyalty here? There are lots of good cars out there, vipers included, but none of them will get much support on a Ferrari forum. Whether the abuse is fair or not is irrelevant, if it’s not a Ferrari it is by definition the enemy and suitable for kicking.

Same formula for the Ferrari Challenge Stradale or Lambo Superleggera.
I havent driven the new Viper yet.
Didnt like the old Vipers "looking over a football field effect" while driving. Miniscule brakes were a joke.
At $100k the ACR seems a good buy. Wait till fuel hits $5 per gallon and get a used one cheap.
