Under the Reply button in a thread you will see a Share/Save menu. Mouse over that and there are 40 or so social networks you can share a thread or simply email it to someone.

It works nicely putting thread link, title, and even thumbnails to share with social networks or email.

Feedback welcome. Not sure I'm crazy about the placement yet.

If you look in Facebook Jim you will see my test, which happens to be one of your threads. The thumbnail was supposed to be the FChat logo, but for some reason it didn't come out.

Ummm, okay, but this appears to work for threads in the private sections as well. One of the things that I like about the private sections is that they are not searchable by Google or whatever. Doesn't this, in a way, make it possible for information that people might want kept private to become searchable? I'm not a Facebook user - hate the idea of it - so maybe I'm off base here I don't know.
What I'm worried about is that there are times where people have posted very personal stories or personal identifiers in the private sections that they would not necessarily post in the non-subscriber public sections and almost certainly wouldn't want shared on Facebook by another user completely outside of their control.

Any way to make this NOT a "subscribed" function? There are LOTS of things
posted in Rossa/Silver that shouldn't enter the interwebs....

Including the shots I took this evening here in LV at Wynn that the management SCOLDED
me not to post on the web... private cars, a Ferrari prototype, etc.....

    Just sayin'.....

I think even if you shared a link to a Rossa thread, the reader would have to be subscribed to see it.

I guess I just find it a little worry some, but that is just me. Call me old fashioned but I dont like the idea of my digital life being linked all over the place.

The potential reader would still get to see the thread title posted on the internet, wouldn't they? Unless Rob is able to adjust it so that the title just comes out as "Silver Subscribed Thread" / "Rossa Subscribed Thread" in the posting.

To be honest, I'm not crazy about the feature myself. I have a Facebook account, but it mainly just generates a lot of spam. My wife is the one who uses it to post up all our pictures for family/friends, and that's good enough for me.

Maybe you could hide it in the "thread tools" drop-down menu?

    All the best,
    Andrew.

One of the most attractive things about the subscription here is that the private forums are NOT searchable by robots. I don't have any of these social networking accounts precisely because I don't want my life plastered all over the web. I don't need clients or employers knowing anything about me and I'm very compartmentalized in what gets shared with friends or acquaintances.

Is there any way to close it, or move it, every time my mouse scrolls past it on a thread it opens up to the box, which has happened on every thread I have opened.. (or so it won't open up)

Also, I don't know many things about many things, but fchat seems slower to me today..

    Good luck with the changes..

Hey Stig, I have a FB but you would be hard pressed to find it with out me telling you where it is. None of my standard emails go to it and if you are not a friend you only get the pic of a cat and nothing else.

But for my less than 50 or so friends, I find it invaluable for keeping up with them.

    of course not!

it will share the link and thread title, but person would still have to be a user and subscribed to see the private sections.

this isn’t a content sharing tool, it is simply a linking tool.

I don't even like the thread titles being linked anywhere honestly but I am relieved to hear that the thread content of the private sections will remain non-searchable to non-subscribers.

I don't see any user concern with thread titles. If anyone, just me as I might be embarrassed as admin about "Alpaca growing" threads. Since there is no user listed or content provided why would anyone care a person posts a thread link with title to their friends list.

I'm not crazy about it myself to be honest, mainly because none of my friends are on Fchat. Only one of them is a member and to date he has 0 posts, I think.

The placement is ok, it's only at the top of each page so not really disturbing.
