On this one we're taking our time. 0846/Lola/002C/P 4/5/Duesenberg/Studz are all fine and MK-IV will ready by spring so I don't feel any pressure to rush. If anything I have too many events and plenty to drive. Best
That's what I originally thought. It's stablemates are all fine and perfection is always key. Thank you for the swift reply, Jim.
Seeing those stamping sadly reminds me of seeing the markings on the WTC towers' exposed steel supports. Numbers that were never intended to see the light of day again. However, in this case, its facinating and wonderful to be included in the revealing of provinance! Thanks for sharing and my apologies for the morbid thoughts. Happy Monday Ken
beyond cool! the more pictures the better. any other cool details you have found on this particular car? thanks for posting!
We've found many interesting things. Early on Paul Skett pointed out that originally on the P3's/412P's the airbox was attached to the bottom of the tail not mounted permanently to the carbs as had been done at some point with 0854. We're restoring her original coupe tail that she last raced with at Brands Hatch. Note the rivet holes outlined in green. The air box matches exactly up with those holes so it's easy to put it right. Also note original air filter holder channel and original coil coolers which are P3 not P4. Pretty cool. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
There's so much more to getting it right than meets the eye, isn't there? "Good enough" just won't cut it.
Yes it's very subtle nuances that not many would notice and take a long time to get right. It's a giant jigsaw puzzle that reveals it's mysteries as you go on. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
So many nooks and crannies - really makes one appreciate the engineering of what to do, how to do, when to do, and why, er - form and function - to begin with.
