A couple of quick pics for RMV. This is my old 355 Challenge car post restoration. When I get time I will post some of the restoration shots. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Looks great, how long did you own it for? I love the Challenge cars, such a shame PP isn't bringing his over for the Rally.
Wow, that engine bay is absolutely immaculate!!! I can imagine the effort that goes into such a meticulous presentation. It's an absolutely gorgeous car, and your timing is perfect; I'm already preparing for exams, and I need all the motivation I can muster to get my backside into gear! Thanks for posting those pics 360C, I really appreciate it!
Hell of a story involved with the purchase of that car. Original owner was Ross Palmer and he drove it in the Challenge race that supported the 1997 F1 Melbourne GP. It was then sold to Joe and Tony Vodopic who were later convicted for the kidnapping of the business partner of an FCA member (who was also a friend of theirs). She turned out to be in the witness protection programme as she witnessed her ex- husband (gangland identity) kill someone. I bought the car before all this happened; but the deal itself was unusual....... It was in the possession of another FCA member as security for some deal. That particular FCA member went to the "big house" soon after as he turned out to be the western suburbs supplier of happy weed....... Could you write a less believable script for a Hollywood soapy???? All the hassle was worth it in the end because that car remains probably my favourite Ferrari of the 6 that I have owned to date. I might add that NO modern road Ferrari sounds as good as that car on full noise- sends chills down the spine!
Here are some shots from the engine out major service. The full 1998 kit was fitted at the same time. John Allan did all the mechanical work on this car. Ken Ward did all the paint work (I have photos somewhere) Roman, how many bits can you see in the restored engine bay that are only found in 355 Challenge cars with 98 kit? "Mine" is the ONLY Aussie car with the full kit BTW. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I always got this same reaction EVERY time I drove this car- Big smiles! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Phiilip Island National FCA meeting 1999. Two 355 Challenge cars in the one place. At the time there were only 4 in the country? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Put a few years on since that photo... and a few kil... nah, you know it already See, there is something worse than a reformed smoker Scott, a reformed fatty
Haha.....you better organise for that F40 not to turn up since I saw it yesterday and its RED. Great story.....if you can believe it. Its your favourite Ferrari? Maybe you haven't owned the F50 long enough yet..... Do you have any videos or sound clips of the car?
Yes, it's a strange story AND I only put in the bits that are documented by legal proceedings and/or appeared in the press. There's more; but not for here..... AND it's all quite true. There have been some "characters" in the FCA hey PP? Sure, one of my favourites without a doubt. For the record the comparisons are: My 308, 328, 355 Ch, 360 Modena, 360 N-GT Michelotto and F50. My Father also had a Testarossa and a 275 GTB/4, so I have spent some time with a few of the companies products over the last 28yrs. The 275 GTB/4 was very special in case anyone wonders! I have only done about 450km's in the F50 and have spent a LOT of time getting it to my standards (not there yet). It's an interesting car; but I haven't formed a definitive opinion about it yet. No sound clips of the 355 Challenge- or any of the others. You can make a "normal" 355 sound exactly the same by putting on the challenge specific exhaust bits (if you can find them). Tubi's do NOT yield the same sound on a 355.
self imposed ban over : too right he will, nothing worse than a reformed fat bastard .... he will revert back to the "natural" shape no matter what he thinks
I was gonna ask the other day... you woose Correct, nothing worse than me, reformed smoker, drinker and fat bastard! Yes, I did revert back to my natural shape thank you, and gee, don't I look GOOD!
Absolutely no difference whatsoever. However, the extra driving talent it gives you takes seconds off your laptime.
Yes, been fat, been thin, been average whatever all my life. BTW JM, congratulations on losing MORE than our mate Tiptronic
There are good products around; but it still requires willpower and sweat. Willpower and motivation are the hardest to find. Last time I got fit was when I was in all out "Targa Tasmania mode".
