I am not a big fan of "bringing back classics" but the original Disco Volante really was a show car so it's excusable. It's kinda cool but I would have done things differently. Some areas are a bit odd.
I contacted my dealer where I ordered my Abarth from, and they have no info on 4C. They told me contact back in August-Sept
Here is a little bit of info from the UK on the launch edition. I might have a lot more to say after the weekend Image Unavailable, Please Login
Is this the introduction "special edition" they were talking about? It's only available in Red and Matte white? I LOVE the exposed CF interior tub. I have no idea how they can do this for the price. McLaren's and Lambo's tubs cannot do this because they use a different process. This looks like hand lay up. Option prices are actually reasonable compared to Ferrari (well, what wouldn't be?) NOTE TO ALFA: Send this bloody car to the US because I want one! This is my new daily driver.
Yes this is for the launch edition only and the price is around 10% more expensive than the regular ones that will come in September. Only colours for this edition is Red and Matte White I agree options are not too expensive I would love to know the price in the US....someone in the UK mentioned $50k for the regular versions before options but it sounds a little too much if they want to be competitive. As for the daily drive...I think it's a bit too "basic" inside for that ;-)
I guaranty the price will be $50K plus tax and license $58 out the door, for the US. Just compare GTI and Abarth prices from US to Europe.
Thanks. Liking the "Carrara white" (have been there before lol)....the suitcase costs more than the hifi system?
Honestly... if this thing drives like it should, they have a winner here. I am really excited now and I wasn't a few weeks ago. I liked the Elise for it's "concept" but could not get over the Toyota motor, the poor creature comfort, the "Frog" looks with a thousand black grilles everywhere, and the lack of customer service and dealer support, not so mention past reliability issues. But, this car might just fix all that. As to too spartan, compared to my Mini Cooper S this is an upgrade when it comes to living with it. Lack of storage space though is an issue but I don't know what's available upfront yet.
FWIW, I just registered at this link, Alfa Romeo 4c - Keep Update. It will be interesting to see if info is released to both the "preorder" and "keep update" lists at the same time.
No storage space in the front. There's a smallish trunk behind the engine: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8241/8541503181_9f0311b01e_o.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8387/8542607616_69c74620af_o.jpg
I'm less concerned with the trunk than anything else I think. The only thing I can foresee me traveling with that wouldn't fit in the trunk is my golf clubs, but I'd just put them on the passenger seat floor leaning on the seat. I love a good early morning spirited drive to a nice course before a round. Mark
I'm not concerned either, I was just giving TheMayor an answer Here's the structure of the car. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nice...I wonder if they have crash tested one in the US yet. Would like to see how well it holds up. Looks strong. Tom Tanner/Ferrari Expo 2013-Chicago March 23rd 2013
Smallish? How about teensy tiny! Could be a deal breaker for me as a Daily Driver. Engine compartment looks impossible to work on. Oh, those poor Fiat mechanics who have to work on this -- they have no idea what is about to hit them.
I doubt unfortunately that it can be a daily driver for most people for a variety of reason...this being one of them I am still buying the car....how does a California as DD sound with this one for extra fun?
I want something small for LA (I have a Mini Cooper S Works now) that I don't have to worry about the mileage and I can get warranty work done on it without going 30 miles away and waiting 2 weeks and I can park it anywhere. Honestly, the new Vette is still leading the way right now but it's neck and neck with the Alfa. I do like the exposed CF tub in the interior and the smaller size. That trunk is seriously small. I'm shocked there's no space up front because every other modern Mid engine car I know of without a spare has plenty of room there. I have to see it. Chances are they will put it in the LA Auto show this year. Fiat's done a pretty big deal with LA for the 500 and Abarth in the past.
The front is apparently entirely occupied by radiators. I was told that the front hood is supposed to be opened by service personnel only.
I suspect they might choose to have them serviced by Ferrari/Maserati dealers, like they do with the 8C. I'll ask my dealer next time I take my 8C in for service.
