I vote "yes" but there is a slight tinge of Rockefellers riding in the back throwing dimes to the peasants. Still, Mercedes offered it in the Maybach (for over 500K!) and Infiniti stole a march on other automakers by supplying a one-off for a Royal wedding. And when I was watching the old car parade in Carmel involving Pebble Beach cars, the people who seemed to be having the most fun were the ladies in the sun in the rear seat of the RR PV laundaulette

Larry deservedly gets credit for his input/involvement with both the '63 Production Vette and the Sting Ray race car.
As to the extent of input from both Larry and Pete, difficult to say at this point, as most of the participants are long gone, except for Pete.
If anything, Bill Mitchell was the iron fisted ruler. Everyone else was his 'arms & legs'
He pretty much dictated everything that happened, particularly with anything Corvette

Chuck Jordan did an article probably within the last 10 years where he tried to set the story straight. It was not helpful to Shinoda's version of events.

Talk to Mark. He should remember what his dad said.

I'm thinking the article was in one of the collector car magazines. As told to me by our common friend, it came about because Chuck was upset over how self serving Shinoda's telling had been. Can't say why at that point in time versus earlier. Turned out the timing was poor and Chuck had heartburn over it because by the time it was published Shinoda was dying or just had.

I quite like it; from some angles it looks like it would make a very nice "modern" 2000 GT.

If I had to nit pick, I would say that I find the cabin a bit too far rearward in elevation, and I suspect the rear would generate a fair bit of lift, but it's a well resolved effort.
Is there any info on this in English??

BTW, I agree with you on the tail -

overall i give it good marks
i have a problem with the side elevation proportion wise
too much nose, too short a tail
the accent over the rear tire is at it's highest point just aft of the rear tire, wish it had been shifted forward a bit, but again, overall a good effort IMHO

If this had been designed in the 70's, it would have been fantastic but now it has way too many cues from other cars and they all date it. That said, it does look nice (and I hate (really hate) retro). The direct side view, a view that can never be seen in real life, hurts the presentation and should have been left out. The side tip up is far more attractive.

    John,
don't you find the massing in elevation is very close to 599?
This is certainly far less busy.

my 1st reaction was exactly 599, but not quite as well executed
    trying to be positive ;)

I thought of Corvette too, only it was more of a C4 vibe I was getting.

    Luxuriously boring. :)

The scarves look daft. Are they trying to make a fashion/design statement? They look like a bunch of Saab designers. :p

    All the best,
    Andrew.

It makes a lot of sense; they're looking for a more sophisticated design language and they've certainly got the dough.
I was only a few hundred miles off on my guess :)

wonder how Peter Schreyer feels about it? I imagine he must have signed off on the hire...

the one article said Mr. Schreyer was behind the hiring
the 2 worked together previously at VW
Mr. Schreyer is due to retire in 2017.....makes sense to 'groom' a successor

While I said that earlier, I have come upon an idea in that new 7 that I really like. The key displaying the car's fuel level and range is pretty good.

    All the best,
    Andrew.
