I just bought a pair of aftermarket shields for the front fenders of my 360. I was hoping that those of you who have the factory shields on their cars could help me out. I would really appreciate it if someone could measure a few points on their car and help me with where to place them. I realize that the cars that came from the factory with them have an indentation in the fender for placement and I know that mine won't appear totally original but I would like to get as close as possible. If someone could measure a point from the door gap and one or two other points so that I could place mine appropriately, I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks in advance.

if you search shields and measure you should find a post from about six months ago detailing this.

Hope these picture help, but also a good body shop can indent the fender. It is a big job and involves painting and all that good stuff. Its not cheap, but you cannot tell the difference.

That is exactly what I needed, thank you so much.

I don't think I'll go so far as to have the fender indented but at least I'll have them in the right place.

Thanks for the link, I must have missed that one earlier.

I measured it out and put the shields on my car. They are excellent quality and look nice but they stick out more than I would like. I guess that was to be expected. I'll keep them for now and decide if I want them for the long term.

Thanks again for all of the help.

Ferrari Tech, great pictures....They prove that shields on a yellow car are quite stunning!

Yes, I did not know about shields until I started looking on Fchat. YOU GOT TO HAVE SHIELDS to be worthy.... I have a 99 yellow 360 WITH SHIELDS and it is stunning against the yellow body

Like I've said before, I'd rather own a 355 with shields than a 360 without. Not that there's nothing wrong with a 355.

I've also heard that Premier owns a press (from Italy) that will indent the fenders properly. I've also heard that there are only two such presses in this country. Then again, I've heard that there is a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.

They can be indented beautifully without a press.

Also, why do some people claim that only Ferrari race cars should display shields?

I have them on my black 430 street car for two reasons: I think they look great and I'm proud of the factory's many years of winning races.

Didn't the storm trooopers have "shields", too?

Or did they "force" them on?

A little off topic here: If I wanted to have the shields installed and recessed on my 348, does anyone know of a source in the Bay Area that can do a good job to make it look like it was factory spec'd?

If you want an exact way to do this I could outline some referance points on a piece of 8.5 by 11" and fax it to you. I could trace the curve of the fender, the outline of the shield, and the edge of the door. Once you get it you could cut out the shield and it would give you a precise outline of it's location. We do this with hard to find gaskets at the shop all of the time. It would work perfect for this project. PM me with a fax # if you want.
