    Hi Jim,

I planned to visit RaceRetro. Unfortunately, I can't find the time right now :(

Concerning my project, it looks like slow progress, but nobody can imagine how much time it takes to investigate exactly how the Michelotto cars were made - as said before, my project is intended to be "no-compromises" and believe it or not, we still have to remove more than ten chassis parts, before start welding in new and different parts. When that's done, we will clean the entire chassis, and the roll cage will be fitted.

    Hello Morten,
Please see the Fchat Technical Q&A section.

There are two threads discussing rear suspension weaknesses that appear particularly in racing conditions like yours.

    1) "308 Cracked rear lower control arms (A-Arms)

    2) Problems with (stub) axle shaft rear wheel bearings. (shaft fatigue fail at the inner bearing interface)

Both seem to have to do with inadquate design fatigue strength, and both, particularly sudden stub axle failure with most likely end in nasty accidents.

Being that you are building your car for competition use, how are you going to address these issues on your car?

    Thanks for the hint Marankie,
I am well aware that the suspension and transmission needs to be optimized in some regards; wishbones, hubs, gearshift forks, axle shafts and more. Right now we are focusing at the body and chassis.
    Regards, Morten

Yeahhh.... and when we are done with the body and chassis - the dirty cloth will be replaced by clean shirts, and we will start dealing with all the cool stuff :)

    Tour,

Since you are mounting the pedal box think about making this a single seater with centered driver. It will be safer and better weight balance. Use nascar style bars in your cage to improve ingress and egress from that small door opening.

    Hi Morten
Have you tried putting a seat on the floor and trying the head room with a helmet, i had to remove allthe seat fixinrs and remove the fibre floor, and fit a alloy panel on the under side of the car, the project is looking very good

Yes, I have the same issue (is 187 cm tall and quite long in upper body) so I will cut a rectangular hole in the floor, and make new seat mountings.

    No big deal :)

These are only lookalikes. Michelotto cars are very different, chassis, suspension, brakes, pedal boxes, gearboxes, engine, dashboard, .... are all different.
It's a shame to go to lengths like these and not make a correct car.
FYI here's the 308 dog engagement gearbox we made, smooth as butter:

Kari knows what he is doing, the VS car was only made for a specific event, and the Alitalia car is standard. Watch us, we aim for the superior :)

    Hi Morten,

when you told me about your project some time ago, I have to admit that I thought "What an ambitious project, let's see how far he is going to get". Now I have discovered this thread by chance, and have to say "Hats off!".

This is amazing, and I am tempted to ask you to build another one at the same time for me!

I will follow your progress and wish you good luck for the project!

    Hi Robert,

    :) actually a little surprised that I didn't hear from you :)

Currently we are moving a bit slower than I expected, but watch us, the project will materialize.
