Hello everyone, I am finding out the results of a ppi on a 348 that i will be buying today (if the result is good). The car will need the 30k major immediately which I will be performing myself. I have been looking at 2 kits from Ricambi one is from the japanese denso group and the other is from the US delco group (I think). My question then is, the current owner of the car had an upgraded alternator put in to sustain his stereo output and he doesn't know what brand it is. Do I have to wait and find out for myself thus holding off on the kit purchase? I wanted the kit thrown in the car before it came across the border to eliminate the extra tax and duty. Thanks for your help.

We'll ship both belts if you like, and just return the one you don't use. No big deal.

Oh - that would be great. I would need the 348 water pump rebuild kit as well. Do I require and special tools to do this major +water pump?

    Thanks for your prompt reply

Another way to go about the waterpump is to the rebuild units the guy on ebay sells...and just trade in your core to him....

Hi there - I'm from Nova Scotia, Canada. Been I mad love with the Ferrari story since the age of 12. I will own my first one tomorrow morning. The PPI has come through and I am waiting for the paper work. Going to take a few days for shipping and I will be picking it up at the Maine-Canada border. Can't tell you how exciting this is! I will post pics of her coming off the truck and get pics on here asap.

Congrats...I can't wait for the shots. I got mine last June and I remember the feeling well. I became a 348 lover in 1992 when I saw my first one. Saved for 15 years and finally got her. OHH what a feeling.

So why the big dollar difference?? Is he putting Jaguar bearings in place of the Ferrari bearing??

Anyone had say 10-15K mileage on his rebuilt water pump? Just wondering how this holds up under "driving it like you stole it". 1 or 2 year warranty on a car that is not really driven hard and say at the end of 2 years has only traveled a 1-1.5K doesn't tell me a thing about the quality of the rebuild.

$3-4K to drop an engine for a $99 rebuild that fails???

Or you can pay your $3-4k to drop the engine, put in a $1000 water pump out of a nice little yellow box, and then STILL have it fail.

I'll take the $951 discount on the pump thank you very much. Plus I'll also take the $3-4k dollar discount while I'm at it, by dropping the engine myself.

Just because something is expensive, doesn't mean it's good. Likewise, just because something is inexpensive doesn't mean it's bad.

Well said... plus if you search FChat, you'll find a couple of threads where the pump has held up quite well from early clients.

I didn't even replace / rebuild mine. It was done once a few years back (have records) and bearings felt perfect. It's on the list for next major in 4 yrs...

Thanks Ernie. It feels good to have finally landed it. I have been driving my girlfriend mad the last few months.
