Not sure if this is the correct forum......a newbie here. Is there a DIY for a Challenge Grill fitting a 360 Modena?
Many people on F Chat have installed these themselves. So just wait, hopefully they will come out of the woodwork and give you some tips. I can help you get the challenge grill if you don't already have one.
Fchatter "E60 M5" did a full write-up with pictures... but I can't seem to find it right now. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=136973291&postcount=14
After you start playing with that for a while you will understand why it's called a "challenge" grille!!!
Daniel....Jack Russell Racing... Thanks for the pics! Yeah, I can't seem to find your write-up of which I really need. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Does anyone have this grille & how does it compare to the Challenge grille? I'm also looking for a very close-up pic of the Challenge grille on a 360. Thanks!
That was offered by Tubi and a few others. I think it looks awful on a 360. I have seen one up close and it did not look good, IMHO. What close-up picture do you want?
You will find a close up picture of a challange grill and some info on this thread http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=191870 Fitting the challange grill is a very easy process. Remove standard panel (remembering to disconnect rear lights), swap over lights, fit new grill. I dont recall any difficulties. Takes less than an hour.
Make sure you get a roll of 2" blue painter's tape and apply over the top of the rear bumper to amke sure you do not scratch it when removing old panel and replacing the new grille!
Here is the link to my install and the original directions with link, very helpful two threads!!!!!!! http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=144313 Make sure to put the painters tape down as has previously been mentioned!! The only real issue I had was the alignment of the hood latch after install. Robert
Thanks guys! WOW, I learned a lot! I really appreciate everyones input. I have a couple more questions: 1. as a member mentioned earlier...the CS grille is made of aluminum with larger holes part#67408000 & the standard Modena/Spider grille is made of steel with smaller holes, part #65919700....is this true? 2. Why would the CS grille come without the stradale logo badge? 3. How much is the CS logo badge? and part # 4. Not to cheat or make the Modena a "Challenge Stradale" car...it makes more sense to me in buying the CS grille because of the larger holes and aluminum...plus it looks better.....am I wrong in thinking this way?
Can't say for sure but would make sense to be slightly lighter. Because every part Ferrari offers has a price tag on it! It's vcalled profit! P/N 67753800 at about $120.00. 4. I have personally always sold the regular version not the Stradale version. It is cheaper and looks great.
I saw this on e-bay...painted 322 red, $1000.00 +$38 shipping. ebay#220263219358 Any comments, please?
It it's painted it is not new and you can't be sure of the condition. If you have photographic evidence of good condition, for $80.00 you can have it powder coated black, and you'll have a deal. I think $1K for a used grille is a bit high though.
That price is not very good unless you want it to be Red, IMO the cool thing about the challenge grill is the contrast in black. We sell the grill for $1475.00 brand new. Also keep in mind these grills are a bit fragile and they can be bent and you would not be able to tell by looking at it in pictures if its slightly damaged. Wow I wish I had a place powder coated that cheap. It takes a lot of work to strip down a grill like that to bare metal and powdercoating it. My guy would have probably charged hundreds of dollars to do a grill like that and he would probably damage it in prepping.
Thanks Mike...I'll keep you in mind but I thought Ricambi had a special for $1,035.00. As far as powder coating, there are plenty of places around here who would probably do it for $80-$100.00. Most guys use a liquid stripping process. The main thing would be, how professional are they....I'm very picky, so when I spend money for a powdercoater guy, the finish product has to be dust particles free, no streaks or blemishes & especially no tiny pinhole imperfections from the baking process.
