    The Junior Timer Connectors that Amp's website depicts are the type that take the plugs. They do not show another type. I conclude that the other type has been obsoleted. The lip that retains the rubber boot is still there, but they list no boots. As for weatherproofness, if you had to use one or the other, I don't think that there is any question that the plugs are superior. It's simple to effectively seal one round body in the center of a round hole, but to seal a bundle of round bodies is nearly impossible. All the "Sealed" types use the plugs, only they add retainer clamps to secure the plugs.

    Not saying that I would not use boots if I had them along with plugs, I would, but I wouldn't worry about how tight they were either. Best I think is to replace the whole mess with something else and modify the clamp as needed. It seems silly to have the crank sensors set up like that as if they needed to be replaced every 6 months. Mine were failing, but I bet they were the originals: that's 18 years of service.

    I never saw those pics - that does fit well. I remember looking at that male connector and thinking it wouldn't really fit well.... Damn internet pictures. Thanks Ian, it appears that you can get replaceable male connectors that work well.

    Hi there, I own a 1990 Ferrari 348 TS, I was wondering where I could get some reasonable priced after market brake pads with those sensor wires?

    www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk. They ship worldwide, sell quantities from 1 to kingdom come and always have stock. I'm not affiliated nor do I have an interest but for helping fellow F-chatters get what they need.

    I have practically changed all 2,3 and 6 pin Power Timer male/Female in my engine with their parts.

    Slop some dielectric grease in the connector and fill the boot with silicone sealant (gasket maker) and you'll find the connector gets stiffer, will never have moisture problems and the rubber will never crack.

    My new plugs have done 10k miles in 15 months and still look perfectly clean and new (including the CPS ones which get soaked in the oil I'm leaking from the front of the engine!

    348 Delco Remy alternator rebuild parts - in the UK. Just while I have the info to hand I will throw some numbers in here for the Rectifier and Regulator on the Delco-Remy CS130 series alternator as fitted to early 348s.
    The original Rectifier carried part no. DR5162. In the UK, a direct replacement would be RTF39824 from Wood Auto Supplies Ltd. http://www.woodauto.com/Component.aspx?Ref=RTF39824 They also do a heavy duty version RTF39834 - which is recommended.
    The Voltage regulator replacement would be VRG3626 from Wood Auto Supplies Ltd. http://www.woodauto.com/Component.aspx?Ref=VRG3626 and there is masses of cross-referencing available from that sight to other vehicles.

    Guys - Are the Walkers a better quality or just better price? Aren't all O2's created equal?

    No, there are internal samplers and external samplers and faster sensors that don't last as long and slower sensors that last longer and different price points and different plug-n-play packages...but this thread is not really the place for that sort of discussion. Suffice it to say that in my opinion the Borg-Warner and Walker O2's are better (and cheaper!) than Bosch O2's for 348's.

    I also wouldn't have had a problem buying the B-W's, and just meant to indicate I was happy with the Walkers, especially for the price!

    One advantage of the universal fit Walkers was that they come with top quality butt splices: first you crimp them, then you solder them through the little hole in the middle, finally you slide the heat shrink over them and shrink it. No flaky splices with that set up, although to be sure, I did add a larger piece of heat shrink to cover all four wires.

    Early 348 front wheel bearings.

    The way to tell if you have the early bearing is to look on the back of the front wheel hub. If you have 6 bolts holding the bearing in place then you have the early version. The bearings come off of a 1985-1991 Citroen CX

    The SKF part number is: 441696M
    The SNR part number is: TGB10894S03

    You can find then from a bearing supplier for about $250 each.

    Charcoal Canister Purge Valve - Bosch part number 0 280 142 150.

    The same part is used on a lot of cars but the two cheapest I found where:

    1992 BMW (E36) 318i,
    BMW part number 13901726705
    $100 was the cheapest I found from a BMW dealer

    1993 Hyundai Scoupe
    Hyundai part number 28910-22000 (original number) and the updated part number is 28910-22010.
    I ended up buying mine from the Hyundai for $87.
