I was looking for a 355 short block . mine decided to shoot the rod through the oil pan on friday . Any help would be great . Thanks
Sorry to hear that. Let me guess, either #1 or #8? Front cylinders right? i have the match to that here.....
I will probably get flamed....... But this car has to big the biggest POS I've ever owned. I know I've left enough dough on the table in the last 24 months to buy another. I wish you luck, I honestly have never been on a forum with so many mechanical difficulties until I joined here. Sometimes when I click on the 348/355 sections I feel like the thread somehow gets redirected to the Delorean website! From now on I'm parking fresh money in newer vintage Ferrari/Maserati.....Warranty baby......... 1-800 comgetyrsh!t!
The squeaky wheel gets all the grease. All we hear about are the problems. Seldom does any one put the thread out there with "I have no issues with my car". I've had the '95 about 9 months with a minor problem with the radiator, fix by the seller. Other than that, about 3500 trouble free pleasured miles. Current odometer at 31k+. I know what is coming on the next major, but Fernando at Competizione said drive it, so I'm taking his advise! Every forum seems the same why, wife's Porsche 928, you would think these cars couldn't get out of the garage with all the *****'n on Rennlist. Two and half years with not further issues once corrected after purchase. Hope you find what caused your heart ache.
Same here, have owned my car for a year and have put over 3K smiles on it without any drama except for 1 broken exhaust clamp which was a simple fix with a part from Ricambi--these cars are solid once sorted, it is a crime not to drive one if available! This issue is unfortunate--I wonder what caused the problem?? Hope you get it sorted and back on the road soon....
Yeah I agree what a POS the 355 is. My 95 had 36k+ miles with a lot of those miles racetrack miles (pretty hard ones too) and it felt like a brand new car when I sold it. I had nothing but fun with the car.
Every make/model has its problems. Have owned my 355CH for 7 years bought it with 6500 race miles on it has 22,000 miles now, runs like top. The only problem I have had was my shift linkage lock nut came loose a couple of weekends ago only had 3 & 4th got home and readjusted, tightened and back on the road.
I couldn't agree with you more.Your 355 must be related to my 348.I am almost equal to the cost of another vehicle in repairs myself.Although I do "drive it alot". I have put 17,700 miles on it in 3yrs including a 1100 mile trip this weekend. The service is due next march again blah blah blah................but I love it - John
Now this would be just incredible coincidence...did you really blow connecting rods on both your 360 and your 355? 42k miles on my 355 (only 5k by me) and no major failures according to service records...and so far (knock on wood), worth every penny of purchase cost and maintenance / upgrades!!!
Not sure if this helps, but Douglas Valley breakers have a complete engine and will ship over seas. http://www.douglasvalley.co.uk/item.asp?prodid=2337&spg=68&pgid=2
Here is a low mile unit located in Madison Wisconsin http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=013&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&viewitem=&item=230212978147&rd=1
Haha Thanks Ernie... Sometimes you just tell it how it is ya know I dont want to confuse anyone with facts.....Nobody on my end said I didnt love it but jeesh these things EAT money....I think I may go buy something cheap to run like a King Air! Careful guys, I've been on here long enough to see guys post how "trouble free" there cars are then "bam" a new valveguideheaderrod thread pops up from one of those reliable cars.
