    If you mean which car it is the answer is 4561SA, originally built for Michel-Paul Cavallier.

    The single-seater is the 1966 312 F1, s/n 010, before it was tested by John Surtees. He found that the nose shape gave too much lift and, after trying a chin spoiler, a longer lower nose was tried. The final modification before its first race was to cut the six slots in the top and bottom.

    Surtees won the Belgian GP with that car, as seen in some of the footage of the movie 'Grand Prix", and Bernie Ecclestone now owns it and displayed it at the Bahrain GP this year.

    Any recent information on this car? I am sure I saw it 3-4 years ago in a shop in Ft. Lauderdale where I was having my car repaired. Had I understood it was a one-off I would have paid more attention, took photos, etc.

    It may be the lighting, but wasn't the car originally a much darker blue?

    It's kitty litter!

    I can't help but feel a little sadness seeing that photo -- Is it really any wonder he was lost, given the amazing lack of safety-minded design? The steering rack alone looks like a guillotine for one's legs.

    Speed had to come first, thus it is just an evolution thing.

    No matter how conservative you are there is no way motorsport car design would have started with "now lets make a very safe car and then make it go fast".
