After buying my third lady 98 355 GTS F1 I soon discovered that almost all of my wheel inserts were cracked. Probably due to someone over torquing the lug bolts. I'm happy to report there is an easy fix. This is what I did. Ricambi has the replacements made by Hill Engineering very early 355s use 22mm all the others are 23mm http://www.ricambiamerica.com/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=&products_id=224405
8.60 each. A 16mm socket to remove 22mm socket to install. Be sure to clean around and in the whole after the insert is removed, I used a little locktite on the insert around the new insert.

    Looks good.

I hope they never have to come out, that green Loctite is as close to welding as you can get.

I have to replace some wheel inserts, but I don't want to Loctite the new ones in just in case they crack again. Do the new ones have to be 'cemented' in? or can I just bang them in with no 'glue' ?

Just tap them in gently. They don't fit that tight. The lug bolts will hold them just fine without the need for anything else. I have a set used 23mm inserts in excellent condition if you need some.
