Car will need tires soon, and decided the typical drawbacks of runflat tires don't outweigh the piece of mind they provide, but before pulling the trigger, would like to hear from actual owners with runflat experience, if possible. Manual mentions runflats as an option, specifically Eagle F1s, but forgot the exact model named. And prefer a high-performance or ultra-high-performance tire over a max summer one, as car will be driven in TX mild winters, plus car will never be tracked. Corvettes have those tires, and don't need any more performance than that. All comments welcome. And yes, you're welcome to bash the tires, but prefer folks with actual runflat experience do that :). My Vette had runflats, and they weren't offensive to me at all, but suspension was designed for them. Am curious how they'd change with the 430. Take care, and have a great day.

Thanks a lot Away. Missed the thread where one owner actually posted AFTER having the tires :), and you linked it.

Need to price regular tires to make the final decision, but if price was the same, would definitely go with runflats. If a lot more expensive, might just add a flat repair kit and a jack, to at least be able to repair the flat with the tire off the car. Is there a 'jack kit' for the 430? Need to find out. Thanks again man.

Yes, spare wheel kit and jack set avaiable. Currently spare wheel for sale on eBay I think. £2k approx for wheel and jack set from Ferrari.

My F430 came with the Goodyear run flats and they were terrible compared to th PZERO CORSA's that I replaced them with!!!!

I'd only buy the jack (I'm in the US, by the way). With the spare, I wouldn't be able to go anywhere < he he>. It'd eat most of the little luggage space available.

The runflats are not a max summer tire, like the Corsas, so you can't compare grip. But how about ride quality and road noise? Remember I'd replace the tires with a high-performance all-season (a notch or two below max summer), runflat or not. Since I don't track the car, prefer better cold performance, longer tire life, and less road noise.

Run Flats are louder, can bend your rims even crack them easily if you hit a bump. I have seen this many times, not to mention the added weight of the tire which you can feel. I could go on but putting runflats on a performance car is not something anyone who enjoys driving would do. And of course runflats can not be patched so if you do get a flat toss the tire.

Or better yet just a can of fix a flat. I have the rare spare tire in my 360, but if I didn't I wouldn't put run flats on the car. Run flats are like trying to play basketball in dress shoes :) I like sticky summer tires on my sports car ;)

The Michelin ZP runflats are being used by the Corvette and Ferrari Le Mans teams. The Michelins ZP's are superior to the standard tires in several areas including traction, wear, turn- in, and car control in the event of a puncture.

Good info, but are those tires regular run-flats, or do they require special 'paxton' wheels? Just curious. Thanks for contributing; appreciate it.

Never expect that run flats will save you from running flat on a F430. It would be a real pity to sacrifies such a great car with run flat tires while they won't help you out. Normal tires aren't getting flat that easy, you have to be in a real issue. Such issue won't save you neither with run flats. A good repair kit has better chances than run flats anyway (if the situation isn't too serious of course).

Good point. I don't know which kind of wheels those team run. But forged wheels would be better than softer alloy wheels which can get bent from potholes more easily due to the ZP stiffer sidewalls.

But my point is that the Michelin ZP's are the runflats to consider. Michelin says that the ZP's offer better performance and safety, without compromising ride compared to the standard PS2's which are their benchmark summer tire.

Bridgestone's Run Flats are way too bumpy. Plus they are heavy. Goodyears Run Flat technology is way way behind- a distant 3rd or 4th place. Awful is what most people say.
