    Nice; yours?

I Googled it for the backstory and came across this: http://bringatrailer.com/2011/04/24/superwagon-1971-mercedes-benz-300tel-6-3/

A few other links regarding it as well at the above link.

a friend's mom had one like that, navy blue with the "wood" trim.

calling it a piece of crap would be an insult to all the legitimate, hard-working pieces of crap out there.

I'm now shopping for a more practical, fuel efficient ride than my '98 5.9L Grand Cherokee.
Since I know the E39 pretty well (wife has a '99 528i) a 2002/03 E39 wagon is high on the list. Sadly the 530iAT was never sold in the US so likely would go for a 525iAT.
For around $10k, which would you get?
2002 525iAT (low miles, loaded as possible)
2006 Mazda MPV (sliding rear doors and 3rd row seat would be nice)
    or for around $20k:
new Mazda 5 (great size, features, but Mazda's next generation engines might be only a year away)
    2008 Ford Taurus X
