Neat to see these blue pliers documented. I have never seen a pair.

What are the odds that two guys would have QV toolkits with identical wrench combinations and yet their identical blue handled pliers would be wrong? So they independently went out and found some cheapo replacement for their missing (also cheapo) "original" red handled pliers and just happened to pick out identical blue handled ones? And if picking out a replacement, blue just happened to seem cool at the time rather than picking the really common red ones? I don't really think you need a half dozen more blue handled pliers to prove these are real...nothing else makes sense. They are real.

Great info you guys provided and that made me went back to my memory and searched for the previous info on this forum that I've seen on blue pliers. I must report that the blue pliers were reported by at least 5 different FChatters that looks exactly like yours. See the following two threads as early as early as 2006.

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=139899612

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=135486841

Coincidently, all reported blue pliers appeared in 1984 QV tool rolls and none others so it should appear between the red sheath one and the red moulded handle ones. You can see the pictures posted by others in the above two threads.

So the pliers chronology shall be amended to:
Black all metal pliers that was carried forward from 246 era, red sheathed silver plated 190mm, blue sheathed silver headed, red moulded handle with Kravm brand and the red moulded handle with Ferrari lettering.

Blue pliers as pictured in your posts shall no longer be a debatable item in the 308 tool rolls :)

And I forgot to mention, those guys with blue pliers also said they've got all wrenches with "Ferrari" but the 14/14mm combination wrench is "Utema". A very regular pattern it seems.

Joe, is yours the same? Any pictures you can provide us with?

There are so many well known inconsistencies it is exactly why we do not care about it in concours judging. We know of many cases where changes were made from one car to the next and back again there is no real right and wrong.

Well; I did have rediscovered this lonely baby in my "spare tools" box this week end...
I believe it to be "UTEMA", but it doesn't have any brand on it, except "Ferrari", and it is a combination 14/14mm...

OK, can someone tell me why this set sold for over $3000 when a set I listed that also had the trouble light with it had no bids at $2100? I am confused!

Spark plugs... it had a couple of $500 spark plugs. That's what put it over the top IMHO.

    Which set that is?

    This set?
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ferrari-308-328-T-R-512-Tool-kit-and-Jack-kit-/201502288248
Frankly, I think people who buy these bundled sets are looking for complete ones. The above set has a very good late QV jack kit (you need the red battery strap for a 328 kit), the tools are for later 308 QV as well since the spark plug wrench appears to be with 21mm crown and the dark red screwdrivers. The pliers are a bit out of place for this set as its for earlier 308s, you should have the red sheathed one or the red moulding handle ones or the blue handle one that's been discussed recently. The missing wrench contributed to reasons why no one bided I guess. Lastly the emergency light is not for 308/328 but Testarossa/Mondial. As the bulb holder is more suitable for Euro cars, you also need the Costaplastik emergency triangle. Don't forget the window crank too.

This 328 set sold for $3261, it is very complete and all items matching:

The current set misses the window crank only for late carb to early QV cars.

    Just my 2 cents.

This one? Ferrari 308 Tool Kit Jack Kit Complete Original 328 512BB Testarossa Mondial | eBay

Looks like he's had a couple sets lately since one of the sets Steven linked to was his also. I don't know about the other one but the one I linked to above was a straight auction too and when I first saw it was at around $600. With less than an hour to go it was hovering right around $2k and must have shot up the last $1K at the end.

I think in the end it's about who's watching it and who wants it badly enough.

Actually it shoot up by a few hundreds in the last 30 mins or so between two bidders. The final bid was placed at about 15-20 secs before it ended. I was watching but not bidding if you are curious :p

Basically my point of view also; just to nitpick and be more precise, all QVs and 328s had an emergency light indeed, the question is, which one, as the plug at the end of the cable of these differed...

My understanding is that some of the late production QVs tool rolls did not have the "emergency window crank" (the one for opening the windows when the car is under water, as Martin would say...). And as an aside, a very small number of the early production 328s still have the plugs in the doors for the emrgency window crank indeed (I know of two cars such fitted) but no emergency window crank in the tool roll.

It is a nice set of tools, Kravm wrenches are of the "dull chrom type", all wrenches perfectly matched one to another; the screwdrivers are without the white "Ferrari" script, so more adapted to a very early production 328.

To me, those screwdrivers and Polytools wrenches makes the tool roll typical of an "early production" two-valve injected (Calendar year 1981).

Thanks for the input. Yes, that is my set. I have owned about 6 different 308's at different times from 1985 to the middle 90's and I think my set must be from a Euro 85 car that I had. I think I have a pair of red handled pliers somewhere, maybe I should put them with the set and re list them!
    Thanks!

I'd suggest that if you can also find the last missing "Ferrari" wrench (6/7mm or 8/9mm it seems?) or buy one separately, put it in the kit together with your red pliers. Look at my original post on pliers to see if yours are a matching pair. Ditch the emergency light and sell it separately. Then re-list the jack and tool kits. Good luck.
