Countach Downdraft 1985 to 1988.5

Per the other thread, this is Ferrari F1 driver Jean Alesi's Downdraft at the factory in June 1986, Milan-registered MI.41882Z, in the company of F1 driver Rene Arnoux's Miura.

Chassis number, anyone?

Never knew Alesi had a Countach (he's well-known for his F40), interestingly around the same time as Gerhard Berger, Keke Rosberg and Pierluigi Martini.

Be assured that I drove also about a dozen Countachs in all Versions beside my own Mimran Countach and can judge quite well poorly maintained/running examples.

I admit, i like the big wing much more than the original QV wing.

 

The big wing IS the original QV wing. The small wing came later.

Has anyone measured the sizes of the 2 wings? I’d be curious to know the differences in width, length, height, weight.....

That said, I have seen the Downdrafts delivered from the factory with the big wing (1985 Eu & ROW examples, and 1985-1988 RHD examples), and with the small wing (1986 onwards Eu & ROW examples). Of course, as with anything Lambprghini over the period there are variances, and these are just my observations.

This Downdraft has been fortunate to have you as owner the past @ 20 (?) years.

It looks fantastic without the wing, in contrast to how it used to look - if I may reproduce an old image with your kind permission.

I think this makes no less than three (3) Downdrafts in the NOLA area, at least.
