Hi everyone, how are you all going?

I've just recently joined and have started taking a closer look at F430's prices and learning about them, with a view of hopefully buying one in a few years. You've probably noticed the current FF discussion re demand and prices for manuals here:

    https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/will-3-pedal-cars-hold-value-or-is-it-a-fad.566634/page-3#post-145746511

F430's F1 seem to be going for around $250k, there are currently 2 manuals listed for over $400k!

    https://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Ferrari-F430-2006/SSE-AD-5158578/?gts=SSE-AD-5158578&gtssaleid=SSE-AD-5158578&rankingType=Spotlight
    https://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Ferrari-F430-2005/SSE-AD-5148754/?Cr=13

What are your thoughts on the F430 manual prices, are these actually almost worth twice as much these days? and what are your thoughts on F430 F1 prices more broadly.. it would be great if these came down to <200k in the future! lol

Yeah that was a tounge in cheek comment, hopefully I didn't offend anyone.

I feel like the F1 prices seem to represent really good value, but was surprised to see manual listed for ~200k more

In all likelihood the only people that would even consider paying $200k more for a manual are those who think they will keep going up in value (ie. a flipper / investor not driver).

Even people who don’t like F1s acknowledge that the 430F1 is pretty good.

I don’t think there’s any doubt that 430s will drop below $200k pretty soon if they haven’t already.

IMHO that's unlikely, you've got to remember that 360's dropped dramatically in price (down to $80K at one stage) because of the flood of UK imports. The RAWS loophole had been closed from 430's onwards, so there's a much smaller population of Aus-delivered-only cars here. Minimum $100K step up to a 458 means that 430's will hold and I think 458's will do well long term as the last normally aspirated V8.

Most sought after 430's will be red cars with pink bras on them, whom would do that? :D

So there you have it, folks.

430s will definitely drop below $200k in the next couple of years!!

In Oz we have currently have an F430 coupe with 25k kms asking price 200k. No doubt they would go for less and there is a very nice silver F430 Spider with 19,500 kms for $AUD 219k. It too could well go for 200k or a bit less.

A mate of mine bought a 430 from Beverly Hills 4 years ago for 188K.....12000kms , high spec, FSH.....Turned up with the cash on a take it or leave it deal....The seller needed to sell.....So if you are desperate to sell everything becomes a liability.....:)

In the olden days, let's say up to around the early 2000s, Ferrari were usually pretty helpful with information regarding their older cars. A fax to the factory resulted in a reply within a few days from someone with a vowel at the end of their name and attached was a copy of the documentation that the factory kept on file. In the early 2000s Ferrari formally introduced what's called a "Heritage Certificate". It was complimentary, the caveat being that you had to enter the chassis number, the engine number and the transmission number and what you received was a PDF via email, I've attached one for your consideration. Note that the engine number and transmission number do not appear on the certificate, you just need the correct numbers to be supplied the certificate. If your numbers didn't match the factory records, you received a somewhat terse email stating there would be no certificate.

I think even Ferrari were surprised at the uptake (Nothing like something for free to a Ferrari owner) then the commercial aspect began to take hold. Some time later the Heritage Certificate morphed into something that cost 600 Euro. Still a small price to pay if you'd like to return your car to its original colour for example and you didn't know what it was. The Heritage Certificate applied to those vehicles no newer than 10 years old.

Roll on a few years and the Classiche program was established, apart from a beautiful folder, the vehicle in question needed to be inspected and the process is well documented elsewhere.

For Australian cars up to the 328, you can gain information from the Maranello Concessionaires Archive. Not all cars up to this point are listed, but most are. It costs about 50 pounds. Sometimes the information will be just a single page with the original specification of the vehicle (I can scan one if anyone is interested) or it can be extremely detailed, here's one of the better examples:

Most Ferrari owners are very poor in keeping records, particularly with older cars. If you can find an example with extensive documentation from new, this is most uncommon. I've been looking closely at the history of Ferraris since 1985 and I have only ever seen 4 cars manufactured in the 1970s that possessed records from new (And I don't mean just a stamp in the book).

BTW, sadly, you won't find any records from W.H. Lowe, that was all binned.

Hmmmmm, I just noticed, the second last image, the 308 GTB order carries the signature of Carlo Tazzioli. This may be testing a few memories but does anyone recall Carlo joined us for lunch when we were in Modena in 2001 during the F.C.A. trip to the factory? He was a very nice chap, worked for Ferrari since the 1960s, I think he still does consultancy work for the corse clienti program.

Carl it's amazing to find someone with so much passion in this day and age.....My Dad shared the same in the 70s -80s when he was at his peak restoring Coopers , Brabhams and Ferraris. He held on to it until he passed away 7 months ago......I learnt very early on that passion turned into wisdom......You have it so hopefully you can pass it on...:)

I find this surprising and a shame. You would think (hope) most buyers would be passionate about these cars and like to keep all records etc

I can understand things getting lost or misplaced over time after multiple owners, but I thought this would be the minority rather than the norm.

But it is very interesting learning about all of this!
