I have been "stalking" my European dealer at all hours of the day and night :). So far I have been invited to the event on the 20th but have not been given a confirmation yet. If I get an allocation it will definitely be a coupe as it will be used predominantly for driving the passes in Europe with my buddies.

For me it is all about the design and how it impacts me from a visceral sense. I assume that the performance capabilities of this car will be insane so I don’t even worry about that. Frankly, I’ll never experience those capabilities, so it isn’t a factor in my decision if I’m offered an allocation. I think it’s interesting that people just want one before seeing it properly, but we all have different motivations and desires, so there’s nothing wrong with that. I would much prefer an allocation later than sooner so I can ponder the decision.

I could be very wrong (I hope I am when I finally “really” see it) but I was hoping for more of a “wow” factor with the design. Because I love my 488 GTB so much, it will be a tough call to justify the upgrade. By comparison, the 458 Speciale was a no brainer compared to the Italia. So, bottom line, I’ll know if I want one when I see it. So far, all I’ve seen is the grainy pic, the ugly camouflaged cars and that teaser video.

How about stripes? I’m sure I’m in the minority, but I can’t stand them. I’ve always felt that livery messes up tge purity of a cars design. Is it assumed that everyone will order theirs with stripes?

In some way I have to be agreed with you, you must like the car to buy it, not just buy it because you got allocation.
After saying that, I'm maybe a Ferrari "fanboy" and since I was not able to buy one I loved every new model mid engine that they come up with starting with the 360.
I loved the 430 and the scuderia was driving me crazy after they came up with it.
458? awesome I had the chance to drive one and I was in love with it....not talking about the speciale that till now still, for me, one of the best looking car around.
So now that I'm a ferrari customer and I got an allocation for the 488 SV and just got the email to go to the preview the 20th to my dealer in italy (so exited about it that I cannot believe it!!!!) I think I will confirm the order as well...I don't think Ferrari will disappoint me right now....for what I saw till now is all I expected about this special edition....of course, talking about performance, we will not be disappointed at all!! Of course if I will really dislike the car, and I doubt that, I will not spend 300+ K euro for it.

I agree. I’m sure I’ll love the car. I just hope I love it enough to want to upgrade from my GTB, which is awesome. I’m hoping I will.

Yep, will def order mine with the stripes. I think a racy car is supposed to have some kind of livery; but that's just me....!

Believe me, we will just love it!!! be optimistic my friend!! ;)

I'm thinking about the stripes as well....I will see what kind of options we have, my guess is we will have 2, the one of the video and the one on the leaked picture at the ferrari event.....also on the budget side LOL....going for a special paint (maybe as I said ealry Rosso fuoco) and probably the carbon fiber wheels let's see how much is gonna cost me!! AHAHAHHAHAHA

Or they just plan on tracking occasionally without the hassles of having to run a real race car. Also these versions are more exciting road cars.

I still hope for a (relatively) reasonable base price; the 458 Speciale might have been initially underpriced but I believe it has helped it to avoid depreciation. A too high initial price may favour future depreciation, so there is a balance to be found.

You are right, but if this one will have pretty much all CF option already on it that the 458 speciale didn't have of course will cost more (rear diffuser, front splitter, engine bay)....let see, I hope pretty much the same because if I really will go for a triple layer paint like the rosso fuoco, CF wheels and also the stripe will be over 320k euro easly I guess.

Keep both, one for the daily driving or relaxed trips with the girl/wife, the other one to track it hard at Mugello, Monza, Silverstone, Road Atlanta, Mount Panorama, Welsh Ancient Roads or in the Tuscany hills around Siena and Monteriggioni, passing from Passo della Futa to get to Maranello :)

Fits OK with the plate size and style from the FB video. Not my occurrence, as it's been mentioned among other possibilities earlier in the thread.

This is our best bet if it's true it starts with a "P". Please remind me who said it starts with a "P"? I lost track of who said so and why. Was it credible?

    488 Pilota, another possibility

It was also said that 'light pista' was some kind of codename for the 430 Scuderia. Seems to be also true for the 488VS according to this post:

"Like my old 430 scuderia the 488 vs code name may be "light pista" it was the name we put on the order before we descover later the real name "scuderia"
a friend of mine told me that his dealer did the same with his reservation : 488 light pista, its pretty sure it wont be the real name"

    https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/488-gto.550681/page-128#post-145802256

I personally doubt that one dealer knew the actual name.
