Too bad they aren't in US near me, there are lots of little parts I could use. Sadly, junk yards here don't save the shells or more than 5 years and then crush them. All of those nuts and bolts parts are all wasted.
    That truly is a shame.

    We just bought car #2
It was too cheap to resist. The chassis and suspension are great for making specials.

    Good day to all,

a short update on car #1. The remains of this car are currently being dismantled in Germany. I confirm it is 26431.

No parts will be lost which are still recognizable as car parts, even if in some cases they barely serve for the purpose of reference.

One detail I noticed and found worthwhile to communicate: The fuel tanks are subject to incision as they rub against the weld-on hose hangers at the wheelhouse rear wall. The photo shows the right-side tank front facing the wheelhouse.

I´ll check mine as well. Didn´t know if this was a known one but I thought it is such a hidden safety issue that it might pass unnoticed. In comparison I noticed that on a later series 1 400i there were additional layers of insulating felt strips beneath the tanks. By this, there might be less risk for the tanks to develop slack.
