    Kenneth,

First, congratulations on your upcoming degree. We get a lot of trolls, and your lack of history explains the tongue in cheek responses. This community is fantastic once folks know are you serious.

That said, none of us know your balance sheet or what Ferrari you plan to get. Financing most Ferrari is similar to any other cars.

Give us some more details, context about your situation, and what cars you're looking at and I'm confident you'll receive useful guidance.

    Kind regards,
    Paul

I think its weird to be so motivated by the future purchase of a car.

Everyone is motivated by something. Often it's a new home, a vacation, or some other thing they wish to own. Why is a car a weird thing?

I think being motivated by a vacation, home, etc is also weird. I dont relate to it. Ive never been motivated by things. Not judging, just expressing my perspective. perhaps Im in the minority.

I think you are in an excellent place to be not motivated by material things. I will admit I enjoy (or fall into the trappings) of material wealth. That is a reason I do a lot of the things I do. If I won the lottery today, I would re-aligned my priorities - primarily much more outward philanthropic activities. I hope this doesn't come off as haughty or facetious; I sincerely admire your mindset.

Well, my daughter isn't really motivated by anything, ever... So, there's certainly another side to the coin. ;)

With exotic ownership I see a lot of survivorship bias.

People that can truly afford their cars tend to be represented vocally. When you HAVE to sell your Ferrari and drive around in a craigslist BMW 328i, you're not driving that 328i "because the Ferrari was too pretentious" or "I like the BMWs seats better". Hint: I've never met anyone that has the means to own a Ferrari driving a POS craigslist car. :)

    Gotta have goals in life!

I told my wife before we got married (I was 19), that there would someday be a Ferrari in the garage. However, I didn't put a time-frame on when it would happen.

I don't see anything wrong with a young man setting an ambitious goal. I predict that although he has that goal now, as soon as he is out of school, life will have a way of changing that. Spouse, family, work, pets, etc. all have a way of re-arranging priorities.

    Sid

P.S - Mentioned I was 19 when we got married. Now I'm 57 and still married to the same gal.

My goal has been the same since I was a young teen. To be in a position where I have to interact with the rest of society as little as possible. I was pretty young when i realized that meant money, as much as possible.
