Yes but the 328 has over double the power,
1260 kgs at 270 hp vs 1000 kgs at 120 hp..
which works out at roughly 120 hp/tonne for the alfa and 212 hp/tonne for the 328..
So the 328 clearly has a greater power to weight ratio over the alfa gt 1800..

^^^^ I still maintain my statement...irrespective of performance......which has been blown out of any arguement.

On Carsales ATM there are :

3 Vetroresinas...all been there for a while at,perhaps, silly money...some of dubious quality and history.

    2 LHD GTSi......most wantable...NOT.

    1 GTB RHD.

3 328's. inc the WOVR,a LHD and the museum car.

I'm talking about wantable,I believe most (here I go again) enthusiast drivers will go for the Vetro,QV or GTB/S,328 and 308i.

I think that anyone buying a 30 or 40 year old Ferrari 3xx series car is an enthusiast driver, in a lot of cases its the budget, not their level of enthusiasm for a particular model that determines which one they end up with.

328GTB was almost as uninspiring to drive as a 575. That's one car I don't miss selling.

I don't even know what that means..
By that statement there is really only 1 328 for sale in all of Australia at the moment, and it ain't cheap at $175k,the other 2 probably wont sell in a hurry..making it rarer to buy a 328 as of now in Australia than a Vetroresina..not that I'm claiming that a 328 is more valuable/desirable than a Vetro..
Which can also equate to the people owning them not wanting to sell maybe because they enjoy their cars..I sure as hell am one of those even though I have been offered $60k more for my car than I paid for it,even after 9 years of ownership I would still buy another one in a heartbeat if I could...

And for the record you brought up the performance factor with the ludicrous statement that an alfa 1800 gt would overtake or beat a 328,
I just merely questioned the statement of a 328 being the 2nd least desirable of the 3x8 series, which I clearly don't think it is..

I have owned at least one of all those Australian delivered 3xx series cars.

This is the correct order of desirability.

    1. Vetrosina
    2. GTSi Quattrovalvole
    3. GTB steel
    4. 328 GTS
    5. A long, long way behind.....2 valve GTSi

And Simon, my brother owned an Alfetta GT back in the day and it wouldn't see which way a well driven 328 went.

    The end.

Could you exapand why the 328 was uninspring to drive in comparison to the 308 Vetro as they are technically very similar. And by fitting injection to your GTB didn't you bring it's character closer to the 328 GTB. ?

It's a pity I've never owned a 2 valve injected car, then I could say the 328 ISN'T the most boring Ferrari I've owned :)

That list Horse wrote doesn’t reflect sales records..or even listed sales..and it’s an opinion..
Desirability between Qv,328 and carb steel 308’s are all on par in my opinion..when they come up for sale they all command very similar $ with only Vetro cars trumping them..
Most carb cars these days probably don’t run right due to the lack of competent mechanics,
which puts a sour experience to Ferrari ownership..you won’t get many 328 owners on here complaining about running rich, fouling plugs or overheating issues, all which were sorted out with the 328..

308s don't do any of those things. 328s can run like crap too, you know. Check out the 328 section.

    Yep, purely my opinion.

I prefer the small bumpers and chrome controls etc. rather than the updated looks of a 328.
