So I’ve been trying to get a replacement set of distributor rotors for my Euro QV for over a month. First set I purchased was from Northern California and when they showed up they were dramatically different so I sent them back. Just received the new set from Mr. Fiat and they fit The distributor shaft so tight that I actually put leather gloves on while pushing them on for fear of snapping them and cutting my hand pretty good. ( they are going to be a ***** to get off when that time comes around) These new rotors set over an 1/8” higher than my OEM rotors as they are not cut deep enough. Truthfully I’m a little reluctant to button this up and turn the key only to find These rotors contacting my OEM distributor caps and costing me about $700 in the process. Would like to get a consensus as if this height difference is Acceptable before I have a really bad day LOL

Can you post pic of the rotor you got? Just to confirm that you got the right one or to confirm that we got the right rotor. Thanks!

Looking at the distributor shaft, the OEM rotors set completely down and covered the notch on the shaft. You can see these new rotors set quite high. Image Unavailable, Please Login

    Yeah I agree ..
Guess I’m going to pull the other cap, remove these and send them back to Atlanta. Any suggestions on where to purchase rotors that actually fit properly?
Don’t want to sound cheap but I have a hard time paying $120 apiece for rotors

Pull the rotor back out and place it against the shaft and see how far the shaft is to the rotor, if it’s near the inside end of the shaft, you should be ok. I remember when I installed my rotor, I can still see part of the flat surface of the shaft.

Got mine from Superformance and they worked fine. Not a Euro though, maybe they’re different?

I pryed the rotors off the shaft and placed them next to the OEM rotors , they are not cut as deep and actually set almost 1/4” higher. That’s when I put on the leather gloves and pushed with all I had to set the rotors lower on the shaft but that isn’t possible. Stopped short of taking a rubber mallet and pounding on them, nothing good was going to come of that.

Well the thought of the car sitting for another three weeks was unappealing. Took some quick measurements and with Mike’s comments in the back of my mind Reinstalled the cap and fired the car. Ran great! Thanks again guys!

    Yes Sir!:)
Has sat for about a month and fired right up! Think I’ll pull the plugs again tomorrow and just clean them up and call it good. Thanks again for the help.

Based on all that’s been said I think I’d pull at least the 1-4 cap off just to have a peek and make sure nothing is getting chewed up. I had a similar issue on my Alfa once and although it ran it was making contact with the terminals which it’s not supposed to do.

Had a few hours to kill this afternoon so I took your advice and pulled the distributor caps. Front bank cap had very fine shavings of brass from rotor making contact and one side of the rotor was bent.. removed all the shavings and thoroughly inspected the cap for damage. Got really lucky. If these companies are going to sell aftermarket parts They should mirror an exact copy of the original. Had to pry these rotors off with two flat bladed screwdriver’s wedged against the aluminum housing . $65 each for an inferior product.

Yes this is a problem with the aftermarket parts we are forced to deal with that has been going on for a number of years. The vendors are basically middlemen who have neither the expertise nor the manpower to act as a second tier quality control but we should at least inform them and the owner community when we come across things like this. I don’t normally bad talk any vendor in a public forum but I will say that Mr Fiat does seem to have some unreasonably high prices on many items. I have rarely used them for that reason.

Thought I would post a couple photos I sent to Lee at Mr. Fiat.
You can see the top of one of the rotors was so tight against the top of the Cap the button surround actually cut grooves in it.
His response was .. “ they look used so we can’t sell them and can’t issue you a refund” told him, I’ll eat the $130 plus shipping but I will remember it in the future. Normally I would agree that any electrical part open or installed is no refund situation. Somewhat confused on how I ended up on the short end of the stick for their poor quality part. Haha! Anyway Just a heads up to the rest of the community. That is Mr. Fiat rotors will not work on your Quattrovalvole. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

You also can't (ie shouldn't) sell them because they don't fit the car correctly.

Thanks for the (disappointing) update, Milano.

So I finally had time to install the new rotors that I purchased from Superformance, ( these fit correctly ) had a full charge on the battery and fired the car this morning. Ran smooth as glass through different ranges of rpm for about 20 minutes.. BUT, all of a sudden it seemed as though I dropped a bank of cylinders. Not noticeable by the tach but definitely could hear the power loss. Let the car drop to idle but afterword had no throttle response and the car idled rough. Never had an issue until I let her set for eight months. Does this sound like crank position sensor issue? Dirty position sensor?

Thanks John, no, there’s no broken timing belt, Car just lost power and while I held it steady at 2000 RPM for a few seconds power came back and again ran very very smooth. After a few minutes of this I let it drop to idle at around 700 RPM ( Euro QV) attempted to give it throttle and could not get above 1000 RPM. This has been an issue ever since I let it set. If I let it idle poorly for a while it will eventually catch and I have throttle response once again. That’s why I was wondering if it could possibly be a dirty Fly wheel position sensor losing signal every now and then?

Love the Car but I’m starting to question keeping it as it takes months for me to get some spare time to even go into the garage anymore . Get it running right and it might be time to consider letting her go to someone with more free time.

Once you get them sorted out they become reliable daily drivers. I know it took me sometime to sort it out. Now I just jump in and go. Spending more time waxing than fixing . Cheers !!!
