    The question is, who put it back on after they bent it, assuming they got it off in the first place.

    Hard to say but both of you make good points. I think it was the same guy that put STOP LEAK in the car after the customer complained his car was pissing oil after doing the belt service.

    As usual, this is a great thread, really appreciate you taking the time to post photos and updates on the progress.
    Are there any precautions to take when removing the side cover from the transmission/diff? Wondering because I need to do the same to mine to reseal, but was quite hesitant to do so, for fear that the some springs or shims might go flying as soon as I unbolt the cover :)

    Thanks again for posting the pictures!

    Yeah no biggie its just silicone between the cover and transmission. Clean it up nice and reseal.
