Only during decel will it make a difference. The valves normally would close at a certain RPM but with the controller they won't do that.

Open valves make a huge difference in my opinion on a 458. I'm surprised to hear it's that different on a Speciale, but I've no experience there so can't comment (although I guess I just did!).

(I use a Forza controller and am very happy with it - the ability to fully close the valves at all times is just as handy as having them always open.)

Thanks for confirming this. I have ordered the Capristo controller this time for my F12 and look forward to using the memory function.

Where do you recommend installing the Capristo Controller in the 458 Italia.
The cables provided have one long and one short so I can't run it to the side as shown with the Forza.
    Thanks

Totally worth it in my new 488. Had the dealer install.

I had mine pinned open on 458 and after a while I started getting low rev partial misfire and although there was no CEL
Diagnostic picked up fuel mid being too rich at exhaust. Had the valves set back to factory and misfire stopped though I don’t much like the mufflers on
Will put either the capristo or Forza in the spring though undecided which
A bit concerned about misfire returning

Forza has a internal switch that programs the initial setup on every start up, you can choose to restart either open or closed.

Plugged the bypass valves on both my 458 and 488. Never had an issue and sound is great.

Thanks for the info as I recently had the dealer install the Capristo Controller in my 458. Had no idea that you could set the startup this way, nor did the dealer. Your unit has improved the joy of ownership of the 458. Thanks for the info.

Been seeing some postings asking about the memory function with the controllers.

Capristo has a feature where you can set the valve position at engine start using a memory feature on the remote. You can set the controller to set the bypass valves for open or ECU control.

The Forza controller also has the feature allowing you to set the valve position for either of these two settings at engine start ... i.e., open or ECU control.

    Regards,

    Steve

Amazing info in this thread. I have had the Capristo controller in my F12 since the beginning, but I had no idea that it had a programming feature. I will have to set it up in the spring when I thaw out...lol.

At least for awhile. I tried keeping my switch to “open” to simulate what it would be like if I had just plugged the lines instead. It sounds great at first, but gets tiring for longer drives. Having the ability to switch it at will is totally worth it.

I found the same. The value of having switching options really should not be underestimated if you drive your car over any sort of distance or length of time.

I have controller fitted but I ran them opened since minute one.

It’s addictive, also for my neighbors

I enjoyed it on the 458. Going to get one for the 812 now. Looking into one for the Pista when it comes. Seems to be more complicated. Doesn’t hurt anything and is a relatively nominal expense.

I've had two of Forzas controllers now - one on my 488gtb and now one on my Pista. Both work flawlessly and quite frankly I wouldn't own one of these cars without a valve controller now. Just so much better having options.

I have one on my 430 Capristo. Love it. It’s “open” 99.9% of the time
