355 ABS Pump Sticking Out?

So I had a locked ABS Hydraulic control unit (part # 70000768). Took car to specialist indie and got part installed and new brake fluid. Car drives great and error codes all gone.

But then I noticed one of the rectangular carpeted covers under front hood was off. When I tried to put it back on it wasn’t possible as the black circular part from the ABS pump was sticking out (believe it is part # 148977 - last picture). Attached pictures explain it better than I can. What’s going on?! btw I have seen in other cars that witch accumulators that they rotate the pump for clearance, not sure whats involved with the 3xx cars in doing that.

In a 355, you cannot rotate the pump unless you choose to not mount it at all. You have to find the correct accumulator bomb.

 

I think your carpet has sunk, mine did. Right were the two parts join. Usually due to a little weight on it pushes the carpet down.

 

As noted in the above reference thread - the Superformance bulb I bought did not fit properly ('95). I returned it & went with the Jag recommendation on an early thread. Works like a charm.

 

So for anyone with the above problem who are using the standard bulb that came with the car. If over time the boot carpet sinks, the same thing happens as above.
