The aluminum splined part that holds both the window regulator arms on my 456 broke a few weeks ago. From what I read this is a common problem where they break or become worn or sloppy? My understanding is that most people bore out the arms and weld a stainless pin in place. I really didn't want to drill out the pieces, try to align them and then weld in place. I decided to see if I could replicate the original in stainless steel. I came up with a spline and bushing that can be pressed in place. Although its a press fit, it also has a center tap if you would like to add a washer and bolt. I have yet to reassemble, but wanted to see what others thought about the design before I finish the repair.

Daniel- Looks like you have eliminated one more weak point.

I got the regulator back in. Window gap looks good. Assuming the stainless splines hold up on the part, it should be a good fix that is easy to install without the need for additional machining and welding.

That's a work of art. How many hours did you invest in this? ... and how many copies will you make for your fellow suffering FChatters? :D

I'm surprised Hills Engineering UK don't make them.

Nice machining on that one and it does not look like it will ever wear out. How much to duplicate for your other V12 buddies?

I've had a little extra time these days! Now that the design is complete and appears to work well, they can be made in quantity.

I haven't looked at the machining cost yet. What do you think is a reasonable price?

Daniel- No real clue, but anything under $100 would likely be good.

That's probably around what they would cost. $95 each or $175 for a pair.

Daniel- Should be a market at that price. F1 Imports might even be interested.

Hopefully that's with some profit for you for your efforts?

Note that several currencies have seriously devalued during the coronavirus (compared to the US dollar). Probably the US will be your biggest market, but having said that, I'm sure a few international folks are desperate for a proper window fix.

I would be keen to get a couple, even with the exchange rate. Beautiful job!

Currently, if anyone who purchases the parts would like to send me their regulators, I would install them at no charge. I would like to document the install. PM me for details.

Mine worked awesomely and easy to install following Dan's instructions... I just now need to make minor adjustments but gap is exponentially better than it was!
