    ....mmm, so the new gen will have less/pair HP of the "old" F8tributo/488pista o_O

    I would have thought 750 hp at a minimum.

    I think the new little brother will be smaller in size.

    will it weigh more or less or about the same? ( given the extra weight of electric motors and battery).

    With the hybrid comes immediate torque and faster times

    I bet that the little brother will only need to outperform the F8 by a smidge.

    Also it will be interesting to see the pricing comparison

    If that is the case then McLaren will be 2 car generations ahead of Ferrari in performance. The 720 has been outperforming the Pista in some comparisons so I suspect the LB will have a significant improvement over the F8.

    and 765LT definitely kill it.


    I can't believe that the f8/488pista successor will have only ~700 hp and even more weight (imho 2 cylinders less hardly compensate the weight of a 7-8kw battery, electric motor and dedicated cooling)

    i read here the v6 would be able to produce over 700 hp without any assistance

    So 700 hp from v6. Another 125 from hybrid- 825 hp for little brother which makes more sense

    Will it still sound rubbish like the SF90? Even if it has 1500 hp without great sound track would be 'boring'.

    I thought that the new V6 will have a smaller displacement than the current V8 which for the F8 is 3.9 L.

    A smaller discplacement with 2 fewer cylinders would be unlikely to produce the same HP

    The Porsche flat 6 twin turbo 3.8 liter produces less hp than the F8 V8.

    just a bit (700HP ~ same torque for the V6 GT2 RS). It's supposed that the next generation will have higher specific power (HP per liter)...

    I think this, the SF90 and the 812VS will sound muted at idle and town speeds because of GPF. Have to wait for the final calibration and independent reviews or customer cars to get a better idea. At least this is my hope.

    They say that because the GPF is located further away from the front-mid engine in the 812, that the engine music is not affected as much as the mid-rear V8s since the longer length of the exhaust plumbing produces engine music In spite of the GPF. (Of course deleting the GPF would be better. And if you believe the naysayers, the GPF requirement is based on deceptive science since it does little to address the stated goals of the regulation. Sorry to digress!)

    Didn’t you told us some time ago that the Little Brother will be more exciting than the SF90 and that it is also internally a well beloved project?

    That seems contrary to what GPF devices require, specifically, heat and lots of it. It only makes sense the GPF be attached to the exhaust header or as close as possible to achieve maximum heat for 'passive regeneration'.

    Do you know who said/indicated that it is further away?

    I think they posted that the GPF is part of the cats right at the headers to form a three-way converter. I think same with mid-engines. The reason why affects them differently is because you have a high compression big block 6.5l NA V12 and a low compression small block turbocharged V8. The latter has such little sound to begin with that muting it further results in what we hear. The NA V12 has a lot more to start with but the GPF ruins the F1 sound as you would expect from another filter blocking the engine.

    The design, for sure, is very attractive ! but the sound is a disaster...
