True. But you could equally say that every one from 1947 was one of the best.

Well, the reality is the build quality is rubbish on all of them. Have a look at a 488, Ferrari don't paint behind the door jambs in body colour, let alone clean the welding spatter off the Alcan rear end, disgusting. And you'd do well to visit a Ferrari repair shop and check out the nasty window regulators and plastic window trim on the current models. You wouldn't expect that on a Trabant, yet Ferrari gets away with it, year after year.

I love these three images. Door hinges:

    1. W126 Mercedes-Benz
    146,000 kms

    2. G series Carrera
    124,000 kms

    3. Dino 246
    38,000 kms

And don't think it's old junk that suffers. Have a look at this underbonnet bracketry on a 599. They can't even be bothered painting the edges. This car had 7,000 kms on it:

    Welding anyone?

Electrics are good too, earth connection for a fan on a 246:

Earth connection on a G series Carrera:

And let us not forget the mighty Daytona, that cost as much as an inner city house when new. The lovely steel inners of the door trims:

The best built Ferraris I have seen is a late (1984 onwards) 308 GTB/S Quattrovalvole and any 328 bar the horrid digital plastic centre console switches. Ferrari finally got their act together when they burned the paint shop down in the early 1980s and built a new facility that amazingly, incorporated zincrox protection. This high water mark was sadly short lived however. But the above mentioned cars really benefitted.

If you close the door of a late 308 or a 328 with your eyes closed, you can almost imagine you're closing the door of a Porsche with 2,000,000 kms on it, they're that good!

    1973, 1976, 1982 respectively.

I have a 1980 steel 308 in the shop ATM, hinges are similar. No hinge pic but I love the striker plate fasteners:
